adding Withings auto-import to an existing Beeminder goal

Hi All,

My wife and I share a Withings scale using the device’s multi-user
functionality. I have it and Beeminder set up automatically push (if that’s
the right word) my daily weigh-ins to my Beeminder goal, and the system
works flawlessly. My wife’s weigh-ins, however, have never made it to her
Beeminder. The scale does push data to MyFitnessPal, but not to Beeminder.

Thinking that I had somehow ministered her user name and password when I
performed the initial set-up, I severed the connection at both ends. I
deleted Beeminder as a partner service on her Withings HealthMate app and
eliminated Withings on her Beeminder account page. But when I tried to
click “Withings” on her Beeminder page, the program asked me to create a
new goal rather than link to her existing goal.

The existing goal is full of manually-added data we’d rather not delete, so
can any of you advise me on how to reconnect the two services so that they
communicate with each other yet retain the last two weeks’ worth of data?

Thanks,
Eric

Did you ever get an answer to this question? I have been manually weighing
and I want to buy a Withings scale, but not if that means restarting the
weight goal.

Thanks,
Sean

Oops, we moved that to support and failed to give the answer here for
posterity. Here’s what we said:

Eric, once your wife authorizes withings from her Beeminder account,
then in the weight goal’s settings she’ll be able to turn on withings
push for her weight goal. If she visits beeminder
she can authorize whitings directly without creating a new goal. Once
she’s done that if you’re still having issues with withings pushing
data to us, let me know!

(We definitely want this to be smooth and self-explanatory so we’re
grateful for bug reports and questions about this stuff!)

Hello,

Thanks for the quick reply!

I have gone ahead and created a Withings account and authorized Beeminder
to talk to it (And it shows up correctly on
beeminder as a service I’ve authorized), but on my
weight goal I can’t find the setting you’re refering to. I have looked
through each tab of the settings and expanded every option I could find but
I’m still not seeing it.

Could you be more specific about where the setting is on the weight goal?

Thanks,
Sean

Hmm. It looks like we removed/lost the withings settings when we were
rearranging what shows up in “basic” vs what is “terrifyingly advanced”.
We’ve been woefully inconsistent with providing ways for users to
change/edit autodata settings on goals, and we had withings and runkeeper
settings available but none of the other integrations. That might be a nice
thing to add in that would add a lot of value: autodata settings.

Anyhow, Sean, if you email support and link us to the goal, I can flip it
on for you… Sorry for the crossed wires on our end! it’s really helpful to
point out this kind of stuff to us!

Hello,

Ok great. I will buy the scale now and email support when it is ready to be
hooked up.

Thanks,
