Skritter Users who wanna help out?

No error messages now, but the graph is still not updated with my minutes of Japanese (got about 7 more today).

I failed to show the error to the user, and was only sending messages into our error alerts. Anyhow, I messed up your goal / authentication again when I was testing things, Iā€™m really sorry for all the hassle! Is it showing the error message again now? One more try please?

Thanks for helping with thisā€¦

Now weā€™re back to error messages  Beeminder claims to get errors when connecting to the service.

If I go to my goal today, it says that I need to reauthenticate the service (again), but when I click the link for my authenticated services, Skritter is in the list of the active ones.

Did you try removing and re-adding?

Remove and re-add the auth token you mean? Today, the old was gone again and so I added it again [1], but the goal itself still claims I have none.

Or did you mean that I should remove the goal and re-add it? Are there other ways to remove beyond archiving?

[1] In Chrome, I now get an ā€œSSL requiredā€ message when going to Skritter to authenticate. Changing the url to https made that part work.

I was able to fetch the back data to your Japanese goal, and got one other user successfully set up with a working Skritter goal too, but Iā€™m not sure if the 0s over the last couple days on your goal are legit lack-of-practice, or if thereā€™s more trouble?

Thanks for the heads up on the SSL error on Skritterā€™s end. Iā€™ll follow up with them.

Cheers!

Iā€™ve totally legitimately not done any Skrittering for a few days. I have a manual goal there that should match up fairly well. Is it possible to have this new goal read statistics back to when I started the manual goal such that the manual one can be archived without losing the progress?

Btw, I was a bit confused to see that the goal was in hours rather than minutes - is that fixable somehow?

I skrittered some now, and the goal updated correctly as far as I can tell

Ok, something is fishy - it seems like yesterdays numbers were added twice. I have done more work today, so will so tomorrow if that is double too.

It definately doubles each days work ( maybe it happens through me actively refreshing the goal)?

I have attached skritter to my account, how do I add a goal using it?

Thanks

Iā€™m working on a blog post and official launch, but more people trying it out is definitely good! c.f. the 32 messages worth of debugging so far

@larsivi I fixed the doubling data today. I have to look into the end-of-dayness still. I guess Skritter counts end of day as 3 or 4amā€¦ gotta look up the documentation and probably just change deadlines on Skritter goals I guess.

@natenshon: http://beeminder.com/skritter (and there may still be a bug with the redirect after authorizing Beeminder to access your Skritter data ā€“ let us know if you see that!)

I did have the bug but if I repeated the access process it linked it to my
account. How often does the data refresh as I did some studying this
morning?

Cheers

It syncs each time before the bot emails you, and right at the deadline. If youā€™ve just done some skrittering and want to force it to refresh, use the refresh button above the graph.

Hereā€™s a preview of the blog post announcing Skritter! http://blog.beeminder.com/skritter?secretpreview

This will be our next blog post, which will be Monday at the latest! (per our blogging goal)

And again, the landing page for creating skritter goals is here: http://beeminder.com/skritter

One quick question, I skritter on 2 devices, my iphone and my ipad mini, my studying from only my iphone seems to be captured is there a reason for that? Otherwise very cool and has pushed me to study more.

I havenā€™t really skrittered on more than one device for a long time, and then it was one Android and one website. But maybe there is some syncing issue with one of your devices, or that Skritter has issues with two iThings providing time data?

Maybe @nick can provide some suggestions? At least it sounds to me like this is a Skritter issue and not a Beeminder issue.

The iPhone and iPad should both be sending data to the Skritter server, which sends it to Beeminder. So if Beeminder is only getting study time from the iPhone, then probably there is a problem with sending data to the server from your iPad, like maybe it didnā€™t sync that day yet. Does the time show up on the Skritter progress page?
