I have a goal for taking out recycling, but that prompts collecting recycling that’s ready from the various recycling points we’ve dotted around the house. This goal is to help make that easier by making sure recycling’s handled and ready to take out where it needs rinsing/crushing first (mostly in the kitchen). It’s a rate of 5/7 per day, so I can ignore it on weekends if I’ve been keeping up with it all week.
November goal of a google doc to research homeschooling has been going reasonably well; it’s certainly pushing me to look into things more regularly than I would otherwise.
This month I’m going back to basics and remaking a goal that I used to have but retired because I “didn’t need it anymore”. Ha. Anyway, it’s just to make my daily to-do list every evening, which is an easy but load-bearing thing for me. I actually started it a couple weeks ago, when I realized it would help more than my “improve my systems” google doc. willdo-yellow – lanthala – beeminder
And I additionally made a second goal, to set up my week in my planner every sunday: weeklyplan-red – lanthala – beeminder Again, something basic that really helps when I actually do it.
Hopefully those will help me get through the tail end of this subpar year.
Actually, what Lanthala said kind of resonated with something I was thinking myself earlier today. I think I’ll also try making a goal to make tomorrow’s to-do list every evening.
Well, I finished that quicker than I thought I would. I had something get canceled in late November and just did a marathon of listening while playing video games, and that momentum just kept me going through the back catalog until I was done. I got a little behind on some other podcasts, I think I’ll catch up on those while finishing up my Christmas cleaning and wrapping, and then maybe I’ll pick up where I left off in Mike Duncan’s Revolutions Podcast.
All in all, a good year for goals thanks to this thread. I appreciate it.
I was wondering if the New Months Resolutions challenge will be returning for 2026? This thread has been so interesting and I want to give it a go myself this year!
December drafted posts for year-summaries on birding and reading — generally, worked, but I assumed I will have three shorter summaries, while I ended up writing two longer ones, never getting to any summary for my beeminding for my journaling thread at this forum.
Also looked back at how all the monthly goals worked over the year in my journal.
Thanks to everybody for doing this together! This was a great setting to try out new things.
