New Month's Resolutions 2026

My July goal went well, so I’m keeping it. It made sure that I don’t forget items that I’m technically “currently reading” for too long. However, I somehow ended up with too many started books, all in progress and all read little by little. So in August, I’ll do another brief run of the goal that I had in February, where I’ll aim to reduce the sum of unread parts of started books. I really didn’t want to make up something irrelevant and cumbersome, as I am starting a pretty intensive research visit in a week.

July: /ffxiv-login

This went pretty well! I didn’t log in every day, and sometimes on raid days I didn’t get much done… but I did finish all my crafting relics in cosmic exploration, and get back into doing some casual content.

August: /jaw-massage

After a recent bout of trouble with my teeth, one problem identified is that I seem to clench my teeth in my sleep. One suggestion to help with this is to force jaw relaxation with gentle massage and pressure on trigger points. Alright, let’s give it a shot. I’ll go with three times a day: when I wake up to ease any tension from overnight, sometime in the middle of the day just to help make it a habit, and at night before bed.

I just updated my overall list for this year and wow! I hadn’t realised I’d got so many goals that stuck – they’re all still active! My /postcrossing goal had some breaks during the hot weather when it just wasn’t safe to be walking to the postbox, and while I was overwhelmed, but otherwise… whoa.

My July goal was plant-repotting. I’ve reported-taken care of a bunch of problematic plants! This one is here to stay!

In a similar theme, my August goal will be mowing the lawn. I only expect to do this once every two weeks, so it won’t come up often, but I hope this will help me stay on track with keeping my backyard lawn nice.
