NaNoWriMo 2018 - Scrivener Trial, Complice writing room

If everyone is planning on doing NaNoWriMo this year

@dreev maybe worth a reminder on the daily/weekly mails?

Also a humble mention on my Scrivener/Beeminder recipe https://markg.blog/2017/04/08/tracking-writing-goals-scrivener-dropbox-beeminder/
and an evolution of it here https://silverdrag0n.wordpress.com/2017/05/23/how-to-90-automatically-track-scrivener-mac-or-windows-word-counts-in-beeminder-amwriting/

Is anyone doing NaNoWriMo and is also a Complice user like me? I would like to set up a virtual work place in November.

Hey @pau1 !

I’m not doing NaNoWriMo but I’m the creator of Complice and would love to help you with the workspace.

In terms of setting it up, I created complice.co/room/NaNoWriMo a year or two ago and it has a customized feature that displays your total wordcount next to your name:

I would love if you posted it to the nanowrimo forums, since (last I checked) promotions are discouraged there but you posting a link to the room and saying “come write with me” would be totally appropriate.

Thank you Malcolm. I really appreciate you replying.

I will use the NaNoWriMo room you have set up and I will promote it as you request.

Could I also set up a smaller (more selective) workroom for my “friends” only with the same feature, the customised word count?

Have a great day!

@pau1 - sure, go ahead and make a room and lmk the url for it, and I’ll add that custom feature

Currently the nanowrimo room is out of sync with other 25/5 rooms, but it might make sense to bring it back in sync so that you can be in both rooms at once.

Thank you Malcolm. I appreciate your help and understanding.

On reflection it may be better to have a 45/15 split for the pomodoro rather than a 25/5 because, for writers, a longer span of time writing makes it a bit easier to get ahead. That is my suggestion, take it or leave it.

Have a great day.

I’m going to tag @grayson here too because I know she’s working on a novel using Complice and also might be interested in the room.
