Okay, no worries. I still love the filter options and visualizations.

That makes sense. I like automation, but I also like to look at my goals throughout the day, and then it’s helpful to be able to quickly add data.

Overall, it seems like most concerns regarding sorting and filtering could be resolved by slightly improving the default filter bar (the one that opens when pressing ‘f’):

- Allow filtering my tags using ‘+tag’ or ‘#tag’ syntax.
- Introduce meta tag for #done and #open; #done means a data point has been added today and #open means no data point has been added today.
- Introduce meta tags #green, #blue, #yellow, #red.

Alternatively, it would be nice if these filter options were possible via the URL (as suggested by zzq in the other thread).

Instead of complaining and whining, I should probably implement beeline (Beeminder command line interface) or btui (Beeminder text user interface) that have my desired behavior.

That filter bar is a feature of [my browser extension](https://forum.beeminder.com/t/my-beeminder-browser-extension/6648). You already can filter by tags and by color, without any special prefix: just type the tag name or the color into the filter box. (There is a bug with regards to tags with capital letters in them, which currently can’t be filtered on. I’ll release an new version soon with a fix. [EDIT: now fixed in the latest version.]) Note that the official Beeminder name for the color between red and blue is “orange”, even if the shade is somewhat yellowish.

The suggestion of “done” and “open” meta tags is a good one. I’ll see about implementing it.

@zzq Awesome! Thank you for finding that tags URL fix, and @dreev (or some other staff member?) thank you for the fast fix! I love it.

Of course the perfect solution was already there right under my nose the whole time. (My only mistake was trying to get fancy an use `#tag` instead of simply `tag`.) I will go and do my bi-yearly bump of the thread right now.

Thanks so much zzq! It’s crazy how much value this extension has brought to me over the years. Do you accept donations? If not, I can donate $50 to a charity of your choice; just send me a PM.

Thank you so much for the fix. It has made it a lot quicker to filter via the regular Beeminder interface!

Beeline aka `b` does now exist.

Pretty similar to [bmndr (Github)](https://github.com/lydgate/bmndr) but prettier coloring, sorting per my needs, and written in Rust.

It’s currently on my personal Gitea instance. I can move it to Github if you would like to take a look at the code.

I guess, the difference to bmndr would be that one can easily create a binary for Windows.

I don’t see it as a problem and maybe they didn’t as well. Of course, I wouldn’t mind if they did some changes, but I enjoy the futures they offer more than their design.

Using the official web version?
Open the page
https ://www.beeminder. com/tags
(slug tags is a special slug like payment, breaks, reminders, and some others and is not a username)

A search of [help.beeminder.com](http://help.beeminder.com) for the word tags brought up nine results, none of which appeared to be relevant.

Using the official API?
One update a goal by setting its list of tags.
https ://api.beeminder. com/#attributes-2

Using the official iOS app?
Not at all (currently)

Unofficial client?
Try altbee

[Altbee — the alternative Beeminder web interface](https://forum.beeminder.com/t/altbee-the-alternative-beeminder-web-interface/7315) / https ://altbee.aeonc. com/ / [https://github](https://github). com/quantified-self-tools/altbee/
There they are discoverable and work as you would expect.

Altbee doesn’t involve itself in editing goals, including editing a goal’s tags.

The primary way to add or modify tags is at [https://www.beeminder.com/tags](https://www.beeminder.com/tags). It’s also possible via the API.

Thought I’d share my Arc Browser setup.

I’ve proceeded with tagging my beeminders and now have 4 beeminder bookmarks

sun = #morning = morning routine beeminders
briefcase = #restofday = “rest of day” beeminders (things I do throughout the day or more task-related)
moon = #night = night routine beeminders
bee = beeminder default dashboard

this is a much cleaner setup than I had before ! Allows me to jump into different contexts without irrelevant goals clogging up my focus.

Here we go friends; better late than never:

[Beeline - a Beeminder CLI written in Rust - Github](https://github.com/felixmde/beeline)

Uses:

[beeminder-rs - Beeminder API client written in Rust - Github](https://github.com/felixmde/beeminder-rs)

`beeminder-rs` is pretty incomplete but if people are interested I am willing to add endpoints. I am in the process of merging my Python scripts to a single Rust tool that executes all my syncs.

`beeline` needs an `edit` command that opens the datapoints for a goal in an editor so that users can quickly add/delete/update datapoints and then it is feature complete 😉

Here is an example of beeline and the current version of the sync script in action:
