Personally I feel like Beeminder’s approach is more sustainable and overall better, but I was really surprised at how motivating I found Stepbet (Diet bet / Step bet).
I think Beeminder could have the best of both worlds if there was some kind of “milestone” or “challenge” feature that was layered on top of the regular goal tracking system.
