Yeah, that was our hacky solution to the problem that it wasnât
obvious when youâre signed in. We were nervous about secret goals
being out of sight, out of mind. Maybe thatâs less of a problem now
than it was when we implemented that. Back then you could even enter
data without being signed in! I think itâs still an issue though.
Imagine pulling up beeminder.com/yournamehttp://beeminder.com/yourname quickly to check for any red
graphs. It needs to somehow be obvious that you might be missing
something if some secret goals are red but you arenât actually signed
in to see secret goals.
Would it be lame to have âsign in to see this secret graph!â?
Despite revealing the existence of secret goals, weâre careful not to
reveal the existence of their URLs (thanks to whoever that was â
probably Paul Fenwick? â who pointed this out to us). So you canât
surf to beeminderhttp://beeminder.com/jolly/axemurdering and have it prompt you to
sign in to see it. Then youâd be all âha, I knew it! jolly beeminds
his axe-murdering!â Actually it does prompt you to sign in if you surf
to that but thatâs what it does when you surf to
beeminderhttp://beeminder.com/jolly/anything so you canât learn anything that way.
