New Month's Resolutions 2026

I have picked my November goal. I have been on and off reading the book “Worth” by Marisa Franco. It’s about self-esteem, confidence, and self-worth, all of which are things I struggle with. I’ve gotten about a third of the way through, but it’s been slow going because I can’t seem to get through more than about a few pages without having to stop and cry or journal through some tough feelings. I haven’t actually tried any of the suggested exercises, but I have a feeling they would be hard to do, but beneficial for me. So, I want to start over, read it with intention, do the suggested exercises and push through the tough emotions by the end of November.

October: /lesslingering

I can’t believe it’s only been a month of this! It’s helping, I think; I should maybe nudge the rate upward now, though.

November: /christmasprep

I usually make Christmas a whole big thing, so it helps to start preparing early. I have ideas and a couple of gifts, but now it’s time to start making lists, checking them twice, and pulling everything together.

Until I actually have yarn and can get started on it, the crochet gift I’m going to make will count for this as well, but it will probably get its own goal later.

October goal for spending a minimal time every evening to put things away worked very well. Keeping it for now. For November, I wanted something simple and decided to add some control to my taking Omega-3 supplements, which I have been skipping too often: omega-3. Measured as mgs of DHA+EPA together, set to a pretty low daily amount just to get into the habit.

My September goal was journaling. This has been really good for me. It helps me track some more low-key goals that I don’t necessarily want beeminder for, and I’ve been able to do it very consistently.

My November goal is bike maintenance. Right now my bike is not so fun to ride because the tires are pretty deflated, the chain is rusty, etc. Tthis means bringing it to the shop, oiling the chain, inflating tires at least once a month. I’ll probably only do this once since I’ll be adding this goal, but hopefully that will be helpful.

Good luck with your reading and journaling @cthulhucultist ! That sounds very worthwhile!

As for me, my November goal is going to be 366portraits. It’s a goal to read a one-page-a-day art history book I have. I thought that would be a nice thing to chip away at slowly.

Can’t believe how far through the year we are already!

My October goal of tracking migraines and migraine meds has been fine, and the migraines have stepped down into normal headaches, so… yay? It would be nice if my head didn’t hurt at all, but that doesn’t seem to be on the table.

Right now I have a few important, time-sensitive to-do items I’d really like to get done (like seeing my doctor about the month of headaches…). November’s goal is actually just going to be upping the slope on a couple goals that are already positioned to help me here: I’m going to up my focusmates https://www.beeminder.com/lanthala/focusmates to 2 a day (one is enough for me to get my daily chores done, so the second will be for to-do tasks) and I’m going to up my “get to-do items done” https://www.beeminder.com/lanthala/dailytask to 2 a day. I’m also going to modify the definition of that goal for the month: normally I give myself one point for a “backlog” to-do item that has lingered for more than a month, and half a point for a “new” to-do item, but this month both will be worth the full point. Hopefully this’ll get me to push more things off my plate in preparation for the holiday season.

November goal is /physio

I managed to take my hip from occasionally grumpy on hills to complaining if I walk (at all). I’ve started physio which has got me to 20 minutes walking on a flat surface permitted before the pain starts, but I need to keep going with it to get back to normal walking.
