Opening thoughts:
I’ve kept it quiet this week, and so it will likely remain until year’s end.
New goals:
- /palace-of-illusions - A goal for finishing one of the books on two reading challenges, Rowenna Miller’s The Palace of Illusions. I want a couple more reading goals, at least, to try and finish up these challenges for December – but this is a start for now. I’ve set it to give me a week, which means 50 pages a day (roughly).
Closing thoughts:
I need to set Christmas time off on Monday, since I’m taking the whole Christmas week off. I should really do it now, but I’m in a bit of a rush. A reminder is set!

Opening thoughts:
Another quiet week, and that’s good for now.
Derailments:
- /palace-of-illusions - Couldn’t quiiiite reach my goal yesterday after working extra due to the Todoist thing. Oh well!
Changes to existing goals:
- Some small Christmas breaks were added, but I’m continuing as normal with most stuff.
Closing thoughts:
And that’s it for now. I probably want some more reading goals for specific books to get my Book Spin Bingo and reach my 2025 reading goal, but I’m going to give myself a couple of days and see where my attention naturally wanders first, now I’m off work until 29th Dec!
Opening thoughts:
Hope everyone who celebrates Christmas had a great one! And any other holiday that you might’ve been celebrating, of course. I’ve been deeply spoiled, and it’s been glorious.
Derailments:
- /2025reading - This ended up due on Christmas Eve. I knew I had to finish one book, and managed that, but after finishing all the Christmas prep I was way too tired and it was waaay too late to eke out another book, even a manga. I still hope to meet this goal, though! 13 books in six days is a lot, but far from impossible (for me).
Changes to existing goals:
- /2025books - This goal was set up to limit the number of books I could buy and not start reading in 2025. Books would enter the list when bought/received, and leave it when started. Because the number of books I’d receive for Christmas Day was unpredictable, I set it to end on Christmas Day. It’s now been restarted again at the new value, and will remain flat until the end of 2025. From there, it gets a rate that will (hopefully) get me to 0 books remaining that were bought/recieved in 2025 by the last day of June 2026. We’ll see!
I have to admit that I don’t totally love how the graph looks, because I was quite fond of the flat keep-below line – but I’m trying to remind myself that it tells a story, and one I’m pretty proud of!
- A few goals that were due to end at the end of 2025 have had their end dates bumped along, since I don’t actually want to stop doing them (but the moment of reflection was wise, which is why I’ve only bumped the end dates by a year).
- /palace-of-illusions - Got the book finished in a bit of a marathon at the goal’s end date!
Closing thoughts:
I guess this is the last round-up of the year! The next post will be in a new thread, and will kick off my goals for the new year. I expect that’ll mostly be reading goals, plus I’ll launch a new New Month’s Resolution challenge for 2026, and thus will need a new goal for January (I think I have something in mind).
For now, though, a little bit of tidying, proper cataloguing of new books, and then some reading time before the traditional Boxing Day turkey curry, the consumption of the banoffee pie that Lisa’s currently making, and the presents for Lisa’s birthday.
