Howdy folks,
Long time, no post! I hope everyone has been doing well here. I’m a previous user of Beeminder, having used it for many years. I took a break to go travelling, and didn’t pick it back up. I probably ought to given I don’t spend enough time on living out my second-order desires, and one of those is reading (especially non-fiction).
Back then, and NOW, one thing I always always struggled with was auto-tracking my reading time. I think I ended up just tracking it with a timer on my apple watch then manually inputing it, or timing it using Complice/Intend.do. It was messy. I looked at other reading trackers at the time, and thought that they were quite bad.
2026 rolls around and now it’s possible to develop apps with less coding know-how (we all know how). I think a reading tracker should actually be a tool for remembering, thinking, and motivating you to read. I’ve since developed a reading tracker and I’m thinking of implementing a light Beeminder integration, which I will get use out of, but I’m wondering if anyone else would get value out of this kind of thing. Feel free to comment or message if you think so!
I’m also curious about what people’s strategies for tracking reading time or other reading relevant metrics are? I could imagine someone has a cool Obsidian system for tracking notes made or something of the sort.
