Currently I have a do less goal set to 8. The 8 represents 8 AM. So I need
to wake up before 8 AM everyday.
However if I wake up after 8 AM on any day, I derail. Is this too
unforgiving? Is there a better way to set up this goal?
Thanks!

What’s in your hands, I think and hope, is intelligence: the ability to see
the machine as more than when you were first led up to it, that you can
make it more. (Alan J. Perlis)

I set up something like this recently for the opposite end - going to bed
times. What I did was set up two goals: A do less goal with the value being
time gone to bed (in hours since the previous midnight: So e.g. 11:30 would
be 23.5, 1 would be 25, etc), with the goal being to on average go to bed
before 11. I then set up a parallel do more goal which counted the number
of nights I actually made it to bed before 10:30, requiring at least 3 a
week to start with (with the intent of raising that later). I have a python
script that makes it easier to do that so I only have to record the “time I
went to bed” one.
I, err, then deleted both of them, and decided not to track that and
instead use tagtime to track total hours slept, so I can’t report how well
this worked. But I liked the idea.

I just beemind whether I get up with my alarm clock right away or not. I
have it set to 6.5 / week, so once every two weeks I can skip getting up
(this is after I’ve already built the habit). I also set my alarm one
minute early on many days (with the goal of very gradually moving it
earlier and eventually getting to between 5 and 6).
