Something “does not compute” about maintaining buffers. 
I can’t pretend that 7 days of buffer is my bright red line, and I don’t think I’d need Beeminder if I could.
On the other hand, edge-skating several goals simultaneously leads to too much context switching, which wears me out if I have to do it every single day.
I found a solution, though: recurring tasks to build build buffers through specific dates. Like:
- Every Monday, due the following Monday: Build a buffer on Project A through next Monday
- Every Thursday, due the following Thursday: Build a buffer on Project B through next Thursday
Basically, I give myself a week to build up enough buffer to make it through the week. That’s a big goal, but Beeminder keeps me on track: if things are hectic, then I edge-skate, but usually I get lots of deep work time on each project that tapers off just as the next project’s cycle begins:
