Feature request: announce UVIs in the forum

  1. UVI are only announced on Twitter

  2. I barely use Twitter :stuck_out_tongue:

  3. There is no page on the web site with UVIs - not even a link to the Twitter account (edit: I’ve found the “Changelog” link at the footer leads to the UVI Twitter)

  4. UVI’s are announced on the daily mails only if @dreev considers it important enough

All of the above result in noticing changes only by chance
Having a single thread with UVI announcements would allow people to notice them easier and comment directly here

Also a reminder on the “0 UVIs since you last beeminded” thing

Some pages do exist on the website, they’re just not particularly easy to discover:

https://www.beeminder.com/uvi - redirects to twitter.

https://www.beeminder.com/latestuvis - is (currently) a little out of date.

OK, I’ve found the “Changelog” link at the footer leads to the UVI Twitter. Still would be good get announcements in the forum as well.

Note that some UVIs are truly boring. Like bugfixes that affected very few people. They still totally count, but you probably don’t need to know about them.

On the other hand, I’ve been terrible about publicizing ones that are important. So thank you for this nudge! I’m not sure about forum vs beemails vs keeping https://www.beeminder.com/latestuvis up to date in real time, but I’ll interpret hearts on @apolyton’s post as votes for not just relying on @beemuvi.

(Or maybe there are ways you could get on the Twitter wagon without getting sucked down a rabbit hole? The Twitter Android app, and presumably iOS app, is pretty good and you can tell it which accounts to follow and which to actually notify you about. Or if you don’t want to touch Twitter with a 10-foot pole you can make an IFTTT recipe to text or email yourself tweets from @beemuvi or @bmndr. Here’s one I made: https://ifttt.com/recipes/346045-beeminder-uvis-by-sms )
