Hi folks, like many of you, I usually check my Beeminder before bed and knock out a thing or two that I need to log a datapoint for.
The problem: sometimes, having completed a goal, I congratulate myself on my desired behavior and go to bed, thinking I’m done. Then I wake up to realize I’d completely forgotten to log the data point, resulting in a derailment that I either do or don’t contest when I realize the error.
Any tips on how to keep my brain from thinking the loop is closed before the datapoint is logged?
If you have something like a HomePod or Alexa you could have a reoccurring calendar invite that announces/reminds you to check Beeminder before you go to bed.
Also if you have an iPhone on the latest IOS 26 update the reminder app now have full screen reminders that you have to dismiss to proceed.
I know some people have had success with QR codes - you can print out a QR code that is literally the url to add +1 to a datapoint (using the Beeminder API), and then just paste it to your journal, or stick it beside the mirror where you clean your teeth, or whatever the task is.
Great ideas! I think @cgamer1’s might be exactly what I need…

This is perfect: a mid-evening reminder that’s super easy to snooze… and then I can fully dismiss it with a slide when I’ve finished logging datapoints (or decided to derail).
This happened to me a lot when I first started beemindering and I decided that if I failed enough times and suffered enough monetary consequences for forgetting, then I’d likely develop the habit of remembering not to mess this up.
