  1. Found a great car cleaning service near where we are staying - all my stuff is in storage, and the car was really dirty from the winter weather and small muddy side roads
  2. Managed to change a doctor’s appointment to phone-in, after we couldn’t get there in person. Appointments are like gold-dust at the moment, so didn’t want to skip it.
  3. Went to see the new house, and all is going well!

  • i’m grateful i’ve always been lucky with my bosses so far, they always had my back. the first one literally fought with a client over the phone because the client was making outrageous complaints. the other one complimented me on a reply i wrote to a very impertinent message / complaint today. boss said it wouldn’t have deserved such a thoughtful and thorough answer, and that he’s gonna tell the complainant that such a tone is inappropriate. i don’t actually care if that conversation happens, i’m just proud of myself for handling that message well, and super grateful that all my bosses so far have been caring, thoughtful, and appreciative people!
  • i’m grateful that i don’t need to go to any office tomorrow. it’ll be great to get a break! (even though i’ll still be quite busy, lol.)
  • self-gratitude-quota: i’m grateful that i’ll be in bed by 1 a.m. and maybe fully asleep by that time also, if i don’t loiter too much until then :P

  1. My other assignment is much more comprehensible and easy to complete than the one I’ve been struggling with.
  2. I’ve allowed myself to switch to the more comprehensible assignment while my brain does background work on the other.
  3. No work to do for one of my contracts today. I could make work, or I could lean into my week of relative relaxation, and just accept no work today. I’m doing the latter.

  • self-gratitude-quota: i’m grateful i made a lot of headway for one of my application projects! well, “a lot” is relative; it’s simply a lot compared to everything i’ve done so far! also, i really like how the draft came out in the end, here’s an image link for anyone interested. (i want to make a tile puzzle out of it, which is why the last square is left blank.)
  • i’m grateful for today’s therapy session. a lot to mull over and contemplate and consider and think through.
  • i’m grateful i managed to get my unread mails down to 9 again. currently i’m happy enough when i manage to get them below 10; that’ll have to do until i can motivate myself to make a beeminder goal out of it, and until i can afford whittle-down-goals :P

  1. Even when it feels like I’m really not making much progress on everything, I still get a lot of different things done almost every day that are important for long term growth and maintaining energy and mood.

  • i’m super grateful that my flatmate worked from home today. i should have been in the office at 8 am, but i guess my alarms were too few too silent, so that i easily turned them off while i was still basically sleeping? anyway, my flatmate came into my room shortly before 8, waking me up and thus ensuring i wouldn’t be horribly late! (i only showered after the short work day, and i live really close to the office, so i was actually only 15 minutes late, and the thing i came in early for didn’t happen until an hour later, so all well in the end!)
  • self-gratitude-quota: i’m grateful i’ve decided to go to sleep now. there’s a lot of things i could be doing just to keep myself awake for longer. but i realised that i’m not very hyped about any of them, and there’s no real reason to stay up late, anyway—i know it doesn’t make any sense, but, somehow, whenever i don’t have any plans / commitments for the next day, i have an easier time calling it a day and going to sleep early. when i know i should go to sleep because i need to be up early the next day, i frequently end up “revenge living,” as i call it. (i guess “revenge waking” would be more apt; “revenge browsing” definitely doesn’t cut it, because while i’m often on my laptop during these hours, that’s not always, and if i’m on the internet, i’m not always aimlessly browsing, either.)
  • i’m grateful my mother canceled our plans for tomorrow. i already saw her last weekend, on tuesday, and today. hooray for a spontaneously empty saturday tomorrow, i’ll absolutely need it!

  2. I have enough energy again today to actually be productive around the house, and don’t need to get another emergency-break added to my goals! (I’m counting this not as self-gratitude because the low energy was more viral than mental :P)
  3. My sister-in-law drove up to town to take my wife out to a “galentine’s brunch” so she gets to do something fun on her day off while i’m stuck at home getting over being sick.

  2. Had a fascinating discussion with my uncle, who (even though he’s retired) still works with NASA on the x-ray telescope he designed for the ISS, and was doing some observations on his “favourite neutron star” (don’t we all have a favourite neutron star??)
  3. Managed to upgrade my phone to unlimited free data at a fairly nominal price: we don’t have wifi in this cottage, so I need it as a wifi hotspot for the next month, to enable all our usual 21st century stuff.

  1. Listening to the FFXIV: Death Unto Dawn soundtrack has given me a new appreciation for certain characters – the amount of character/lore building that these songs can do is pretty amazing.

  3. I bit my lip really badly on Thursday, and it’s mostly healed, even though it was raw and weeping on Friday. Bodies! Wow!
