- the sunshine is back - a lovely warm day today
- love my new Kindle, now nestling in a case off Etsy
- took a timelapse of the mist clearing off the river this morning - very soothing to watch
- SGQ: I got a thing done for my side project that I said I would.
- We found some really good tofu at an asian import store a few days ago.
- Some very relaxing Minecraft with a good friend.
- self-gratitude: i’m grateful to myself for getting rid of all red goals before leaving the house today. as predicted, once i got home it was very late and i wouldn’t have been much motivated or awake to deal well with beemergencies. (only the gmail zero one was red once i got home, and that just took a quick message writing to dismiss it, so that’s fine!)
- i’m grateful i got to step on some crunchy leaves today. leaves are great, autumn will be great, crunchy leaves are as satisfying as bubble wrap
- i’m grateful i made someone laugh today.
- I was able to stop work early today after not sleeping well last night.
- The new Ahsoka Star Wars series is enjoyable.
- A short but nice rain storm.
- Had a nice day out yesterday.
- Lisa had an old pair of glasses that we could cannibalise for the nose pad that went missing from mine.
- I’m finally back on track with my reading goal!
- SGQ: absolutely crushing my beemos this weekend!
- Cooler weather is on the horizon.
- Friendly tennis players at the court let us know how long they had left and finished right on time.
- self-gratitude: breakfast
- very nice friendly telephone call at work
- fluffy blankets
- studying a new chess opening is going well
- booster jabs booked more easily than feared
- woke up rested despite the warm night
- I have finished the EMERALD well-being course that I posted about a while ago and it has noticeably improved my mental health.
- I can continue seeing the health coach every few weeks because she also does paid therapy through a clinic.
- I met someone with a pretty tattoo of a lion and two cubs.
- My static saw enrage in P10S last night! (In English, that means we got further than we’ve ever done before and saw the end of the fight. So we’ve solved all the tricky things, and now we just need to do all that and damage the enemy enough to kill it before the “enrage”, which is an ultimate attack that will kill everyone.)
- Some open discussions amongst the static about how we can improve. We’re a fairly casual group and we don’t often talk through the technical stuff, but we need to in order to beat the enrage, and it’s good that we’re talking hard numbers now.
- Lisa’s going to take my postcard to the mail for me, since I’m a bit too asthmatic to walk up the hill today and it’s important.
- self-gratitude: having breakfast
- self-gratitude: buying breakfast things for tomorrow
- music at work
ooh, @clivemeister , what opening are you learning?
- SGQ: I’ve been taking good care of myself, eating enough meals and drinking enough water.
- A good friend of ours made a nursing-school care package for my wife <3
- Some of our friends just about invited themselves over to come swim in our pool—which is exactly what we want our friends to be doing!
-
Having enough sick days to make it through tonsillectomy recovery.
-
My dog
-
Quicken making budgeting a lot easier.
- Vegemite toast.
- A tradesman gave me a quote promptly.
- A magpie flew into my house and pooped on a wooden floor instead of on a carpet. A mixed blessing but it could have been worse.
(It then flew out again, perfectly fine.)
- New books (belated birthday gifts from my sister)
- The air conditioning unit.
- Got into a game I bought that I wasn’t sure about from my first hour or so of playing.
- discovered there is a “Home Movie” version of The Princess Bride, done by many actors at home during lockdown - hilarious, at least if you know the original well!
- found my stash of beautiful little notebooks, that I had thought lost in the last move
- we have at least one cool room in the house
@rperce - “what opening are you learning?”: it’s the Sicilian Defense to 1.e4. Taking up chess again after a pause of… 30 years or so… so re-learning it all!
- i’m grateful that both telephone calls i had to make at work today went well. (i didn’t assume them to go horribly, but i hate to make phone calls, so there’s always a significant resistance.)
- self-gratitude: i’m grateful that i got significantly more sleep last night than the previous one.
- i’m grateful for the prospect of a short work day tomorrow.
it took me a while to realise that you meant “cool” as in “cold” and not “cool” as in “dope hip fun tight super awesome” (or whatever it is that the kids say these days). for a minute i was wondering “what’s this cool room? does it have a pool table? a fun chandelier? a fake bookshelf that leads to an even cooler room?”
- Coworker proposing me to do pair programming. It made my day start on a good note (hey, already 2h30 of work done, and it was super productive?! I’ll take that!)
- SGQ: finally setting up that 5$/month VPS to host my personal scripts. (Also SGQ: not tricking myself into using Kubernetes for that… If you know, you know
) (for those who don’t know: it’s a super-complicated software that’s super overkill for small projects. Friends don’t let friends use Kubernetes.)
- Eating sushis
- I’m feeling pretty fine these days
Yooo man, wanna chill in my cool room? What do you mean, “what’s inside your cool room”?? Ah, it’s just a cool room. To chill. Yes, to get colder. Bro, what’s wrong?
- A co-worker complimented me on doing some work neatly.
- The garden’s female lizard has come out of hibernation and is looking healthy.
- SGQ: I did some good research on a type of problem that usually causes me stress, and I used some notes I’d taken in the past to help me with it.
- Going to see my sister.
- Grandma sent me some money for my birthday, and I’m probably putting it toward a nice chill stay at Gladstone’s Library.
- An upsetting thing is happening, but I still feel like reading for comfort. That doesn’t always happen, so I’m glad.
