I feel like I've been searching for this for ages!

So glad I’ve found this tool. Hard to believe I’ve been using it for a week and a half now, it feels like a few days ago.

I’ve tried so. many. things. GTD, productivity coaches, apps, systems, etc.

I think once I reached a certain level of financial / career independence, 2 things happened:

  • Big milestones (promotions / startup success) become several years apart, so I can’t sprint towards them in the same way
  • In absence of that, my productivity has been based on “force / anxiety” – which doesn’t work anymore, because (A) I can quit my job / the workforce, and (B) I have learned how to manage the effects of anxiety

But I still want to be able to progress and keep pushing forward, it’s just hard to entrain myself to do that day-to-day.

This whole concept of “spread out the urgency” is amazing. I always wanted it but couldn’t figure it out.

It’s like having your cake and eating it too.

It’s so obviously right – micro-urgency. You get the lack of stress of the slow-times without the panic near the end and/or the negative consequences of slipping dates.

And at the same time, the pressure automatically shifts up to the right level to make you give a shit.

It’s minimally necessary stress – which makes me not want to kind of fight / get out of it, because I know it’s logically the minimum amount of stress.

It’s crazy. Feels like it breaks some law of the universe.

And there’s an auto-dialer too? It’s like a whole new way to work. Just dump your tasks into the hopper, and blindly work away, no spreadsheets or meta-pacing necessary.

I love it!

That is the perfect description of Beeminder - “minimum necessary stress”! You nailed it in one
