AutoHotKey script for Beeminding pomodoros

I was dissatisfied with the options for Beeminding pomodoros. My main desiderata were:

  • Work on Windows (including web)
  • Auto-start breaks after completing a pomodoro but do not auto-start the next pomodoro
  • Report the number of complete pomodoros I did yesterday
  • Report to Beeminder the number of complete pomodoros I did yesterday
  • Ideally, set off a notification on my iPhone when a break is done, as a reminder to walk back to my desk and get back to work

I hired Cae on Upwork to make me a tool in AutoHotKey that would do all the above. I am very happy with the result. I have continued to hire him to fix my problems, and I recommend others do the same.

Cae has now turned this into a mini Electron-based app, PomodoroJS. I haven’t tried it yet but I’m excited for it.

Amazing! Thanks so much for sharing this. Do you have particular reasons to prefer this to tryDeepWork? Being lighter weight and running locally, presumably, but I’m especially interested in a feature-wise comparison.

I tried it quickly just now, but I don’t see immediately how I can get it to do all of my desiderata, viz.,

  • Auto-start breaks after completing a pomodoro but do not auto-start the next pomodoro
  • set off a notification on my iPhone when a break is done, as a reminder to walk back to my desk and get back to work
It also makes me select a task, which is an extra step I don’t want.
