Anybody else feeling bereft? I noticed the downtime almost immediately, because I’d wanted to check my dashboard for anything due today. Fortunately, I try not to have anything due over weekends, so my main problem is just remembering which goals need some routine data (so far, my breakfast goal and my teeth-brushing goal, otherwise I’ve been super lazy).
Anyway, I thought it’d be a bit funny to dramatically ask what everyone else is doing while Beeminder’s down. I’m actually mostly gaming and reading: I’m playing Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which is a pretty amazing game so far. I’d been noodling around not playing much of it, but today I’ve had a sit down and started chugging through a bit called the Endless Tower, which involves a lot of fights repeated from all across the game, with different combinations of strategies etc. I’m having fun, and it’s surprising to see how much better I am at the combat than when I first faced some of these enemies.
Reading-wise I’m working on The Butcher, The Baker, The Candlestick Maker (Roger Hutchinson). I want to finish it today, and Bookly tells me I need to read 1h22m ish to finish it, so there’s plenty of time left in the day. I’d also like to finish my reread of Dreadful Company (Vivian Shaw), which should also take me around that amount of time. So I shouldn’t play all day, but I can go play a little more…
Other than that, I do want to pack up some stuff my wife can take over to our new house when she comes over for dinner this evening. I move from my parents’ house (where I’ve been staying since the disruption started, so I could finish my assignments/exams etc in peace) to the new place tomorrow afternoon.
If anyone needs a little accountability without their Beeminder goals staring them in the eye, I’m here! I see you! Get your things done!
And I’ll uhhhh try and get that stuff packed up by 16:00 BST? I guess?
I check the forum a lot, but I was away in the morning (it’s 16H30 as I’m typing this). Right now I found out that if logged out, you can’t log on again. Good thing my computer is still logged on.
I practiced choir, but as it’s tied to Streaks and an automation will check if the task is finished in a few hours, and then log (if possible). I should keep an eye on that - last time I checked it was orange. Apart from that, my toothbrushing may or may not have logged this morning (schrördingers toothbrushing ). Apart from that, there are no other goals that need a lot of attention today, phew.
I’m not much of a gamer, but just clicked your link and it looks nice. Maybe I should give Hogwarts Legacy a go again - I’m a bit bored . My bf bought it a couple of years ago, but it wasn’t his cup of tea. Or I’ll just go back to playing Sims.
This evening I want to log a good screentime rating (combination of rules that together mark if I used my screentime as intended or not). The only thing that still might go wrong is having dinner with my iPad next to me - but that almost never happens.
Soon I’ll start cooking dinner, and then I’ll just have my fingers crossed if I can do some logging.
In between dealing with the downtime itself, I managed to get my Sunday beemergencies out of the way. I actually had a stale version of my dashboard in a browser tab, hence knowing what to do. Everything’s waiting for Beeminder to come back up so I can submit the data.
I have completed my two Unreal trial clears for the week, and decided to switch it up by doing it on Red Mage (I normally do it on Paladin). I didn’t distinguish myself, but I did okay.
I’m gonna do a couple of dungeon runs with a friend, level my Bard a little, and then log out and get back to reading. I’ve already played a biiiit longer than I intended to, so I need to read before dinner to meet my goal.
Just realised that my goal for taking my iron tablet probably is actually due, so I’ll need to remember to do that. I take it on alternate days, and I don’t think I took it yesterday…
In which case, first a snack. Can’t take it on an empty stomach.
Mostly it hasn’t been too big an annoyance, although one thing that’s annoying is that I typically track tocks by directly entering them into the goal, so now I have to write a note of them! (…which maybe I should anyway)
