Beeminder Journal for 365 Days

Day 14:

Overall good day yesterday no derails. Though been trying to figure out a way to Beemind some of my money goals like paying off debt. I did something with that awhile back but did not keep up with it so have some debt. I was thinking maybe a whittle down goal on one debt at a time. Anybody have any suggestions?

Day 15:

Had one derail on screen time goal. I broke the rule of not using smartphone in bed. But I didnt get on reddit or anything so not terrible.

There’s perhaps a simple route of “goal is to get to X savings by time T” or “whittle down Y amount to 0 at a rate of N/week”, both of which are pretty direct (although you’d need to enter new amounts by hand).

There’s also the new YNAB integration - I have no experience with this, so I can’t tell if that might be useful.

So my main concert is I will have some sort of emergency and I will get behind. Then I will keep derailing which will just make things worse. I could set a long respite but then I worry that might make the goal ineffective after a derail. I suppose I could just make a reconcile goal but still does not get quite where I am wanting.

Busy day super tired. Yesterday went well.

Went okay today. Though was on my phone more than I would like. Though was mainly money things I was try to take care of. Didn’t break any rules technically though.

Just the morning but hoping today will go well. Had to get up 2 hours early last two days.

Noticed I have started using my smartphone more. Nothing that breaks the rules but feel like I just replaced social media with constantly check and adjusting my budget and looking at money markets. So going adjust rules to try and stop that. I always seem to run into smartphone creep.

Very busy day, also working on refocusing my Beeminder goals on health.

Derailed on screen goal and intend goal. Also trying to eat healthy has been a struggle.

Day 27:

Been eating healthy for last several days. Also had first CrossFit session at gym. Notice I feel a lot better than I have in a while. CrossFit was rough but people there encouraged me to keep going. I plan on going back some next week. Maybe it will be come a new Beeminder goal.

Day 28:

Still trying to figure out a goal to help keep spending over. Cash kind of works but is too inconvenient. Overspending goals and charging for it does not seem to work either. Savings goal might help. Might try that next.

Day 30:

First time in a bit where I have actually had some free time to write and have not been in a rush. Having some issues with my screentime goal. As I spend a lot of time budgeting and adjusting the budget. I would say some of the time is not needed like 50/50. However I dont want to outright ban it. As if I dont budget on my phone while I am out and about I just dont do it.

I havent done focusmate in a bit but mainly since I have been pretty much constantly going and have not had the time. Though I really want to do a session once things calm down. Though still love the service and want to use it again when I can.

I have not done intend the last two days. As the days have been so packed full of stuff I never really sat down and put my intentions. Though not too worried as I feel like it has more just been the fact that with the days being so fully I did not feel the need to write my intentions. But plan on starting it back up tomorrow. I actually have intend setup for weekdays only anyhow in the Intend app.

I still am struggling with trying to create a goal that helps with overspending. As just having a goal that says if you overspend you fail does not work. As when I tried that once my thought was “Well I over spent anyways whats another $10 or $30?”. Also sometimes a category might be overspent out of a new need arising so its complicated.

Going good took off holiday yesterday. Still trying to think about ways to handle money.
