Daily Reset : Extra Data Points Shouldn't Count Ahead

I’m new to Beeminder. I want to ensure that one data point is required every single day, with no exceptions—even if extra data points were added on previous days. How do I do that?

I’m also new and have this problem. But I figured out if you go to the goal > commitment > ratchet, you can manually reduce the buffer/number of days before the goal is due. Not sure if there’s a better way though, I think auto-rachet is premium only or something

There are a couple of ways. First, as @crystalchrissy mentioned, ratcheting. And there’s autoratcheting, so you can choose to start every day in the red, so that a point is, indeed, required, regardless of the extra effort on the previous days. Second, there are aggregation methods: you can choose e.g. that only the max datapoint of the day is counted, or only the last one. Aggregation methods require custom goal enabled, though, which is probably only part of some paid tiers.

I’ve got a bunch of goals that I enter a 0 or a 1 depending on whether I’ve done the thing or not. Or even just some of the thing — i.e. not nothing.

‘Every single day’ is a tough road to follow, but a noble intention. I usually set ‘weekends off’ or a slope of 6 days per week, to allow for a little bit of slack.

Of course, there are some ‘every single day’ goals that aren’t just intention, e.g. taking essential medication.
