Gratitude journaling together

  1. Devoured a book more or less whole.
  2. People accepting it and not arguing when I point out something was transphobic.
  3. The FFXIV: Endwalker soundtrack is so clever. I’m always finding new motifs in the music (like I just spotted part of the “Endwalker” tune in “Carrots of Happiness”, in a different key and sped up).

  1. Self-gratitude quota: I pulled myself together and cooked a real dinner with plenty of time today! It was a lentil shepherd’s pie and it was delicious.
  2. The SSC/ACX podcast exists.
  3. My father gave my wife and I a very nice bottle of Sauternes for our anniversary, our favorite wine (it’s neither of our individual favorites, but it’s the best we’ve found if we want to have the same thing) and it’s delicious but not as more delicious as it is more expensive, and we probably never would’ve tried it to find that out ourselves!

  1. Not much traffic on the drive to pick up my brother’s medication!
  2. Was able to prompt my brother to explore a metaphor for his burn out while at a restaurant, and he considered it and it seemed to help
  3. Was able to finish studying Latin beore midnight (including making Anki vocab cards)

  1. I like to whine about the evils of social media, etc. But I am very lucky that the internet lets me talk to all of my friends thousands of km away, and in particular that I can video call my parents every week.
  2. I love my local-ish giant multiethnic grocery store (not exactly sure what to call it), to which I am now en route.
  3. Thank god for heattech!

  1. self-gratitude quota: i’m grateful that i finally (finally! it’s been over a month!) caught up with my favourite webtoon again! (details about the webtoon in question hidden below for anyone interested.) i hadn’t read any webtoons for multiple weeks; partially because time was scarce; mostly because i lacked the spoons and the emotional wellbeing; and also because i was feeling overwhelmed with the amount of webtoons i follow/ed, which i’m now in the slow process of cutting down a little, to focus only on the ones which bring me consistent joy, so that that hopefully this weird webtoon-burn-out doesn’t happen again! today i felt the urge to catch up on quite a few stories again, because i had the time, and i felt like doing it. truly a great turn of events. :D
plug of my favourite webtoon <3

it’s called “thanks, i’m good”, here’s the link. it’s a gay fantasy romance, drawn in a messy-ish, quick style, which is extremely expressive, and i immediately fell in love with it! the story is amazing! (there’s not a hard romance-focus, i would say. there’s so much fantastic plot and backstories! there’s so many feelings [also sad ones]!) it’s incredibly fun. it’s so funny! it starts out in black-and-white, but has been in colour for a long while now, and it’s gorgeous either way!
i have read and checked out countless webtoons, and this one has the most special place in my heart. i cannot really explain why. i guess it just has impeccable vibes.
it updates twice a month, usually, and the backlog is not huge (and the episodes are not overly long, like on some other webtoons), so it’s not too time-consuming to check out / stay caught up on, if anyone wants to give it a try. i cannot recommend it enough! (i’m its self-declared biggest fan. i was the very first patron of the creator’s patreon!) if you do check it out, and if you happen to browse the comments, you’ll likely find someone named noomi gushing all over everything—that’s me XD

  1. i’m grateful that my weekly visit at my mum’s place went well. it didn’t go perfectly, but it went pretty great. (and what ever goes perfectly, anyway XD i think we were both happy in the end, and that’s what counts!)
  2. i’m grateful that i only have to be at work tomorrow at noon. this is an every-monday-thing, but i’m still regularly, and today specifically, grateful for it!

ps. as you might have noticed, i’m trying out new formatting for my gratitudes. so bold is the main gratitude, not bold all the rest. in case anyone wants to browse the gratitudes without dealing with my frequent and long and maybe uninteresting tangents (of which there will continue to be A Lot; i am, i would say, physically incapable of not going off on tangents XD). but please do let me know if you find the formatting disrupting or distracting in any way :)

  1. SGQ: I’m grateful that I’ve been able to be good about finishing off beemos and chores before sitting down to play video games, but also keeping a healthy amount of small well-contained breaks while doing them so I don’t burn out.
  2. My car is finally back from the shop so I can actually go grocery shopping tonight.
  3. My new Dakine snowboard bag appears to be really well-designed.

@olimay ooh, I’ll check that out! My library doesn’t have their physical copy yet but I marked it in their online page “For Later”. Might buy it sooner than “Later”, we’ll see ^^

  1. SGQ: I’m grateful I’ve put as much effort into getting good at espresso as I have, because it’s really just such a comfy wonderful start to my day to have a delicious shot!
  2. My local car mechanic is communicative and chill and reasonably priced and doesn’t jerk me around—reflecting on my working car that I was grateful for yesterday, the process of getting it there was also really rather pleasant, all things considered.
  3. My wife and I agree on how much cuddle time is the right amount: a lot!

  1. i’m grateful i had some fun and comfy times with my best friend today.
  2. i’m grateful i don’t have to go to [less favourite job] tomorrow, and only have to be there again on wednesday (and thursday) [like every week, so this isn’t something unusual or spontaneous, but i’m still grateful for it!].
  3. self-gratitude quota: i’m grateful i’ve been doing so excellent with my flossing habit ever since i started beeminding it.
  4. bonus sg of the day: i’m grateful i ended up writing these, despite not really feeling motivated to, and actually having to think for a while until i found them all, as opposed to the past few days, where the gratitudes had basically just been flying straight at my face during the day, even, and it was zero effort to put them to words; whereas today, it was like 1 or 3 effort. (out of 10? out of 100? who knows!)—i am curious how long i’ll keep up with this streak (which noone is forcing me to, not even myself XD), because obviously the less obvious the gratitudes are the more of a chore it is going to be to think about them and to write them down each night—on the other hand, i might just end up writing very short and basic things and still feel better for it afterwards, like i do now. i guess we’ll see! no time like the future! :P
(i do feel like doing this each night has been good for me, so far. previously i’ve only thought about some gratitudes at the end of the day, and it was easy to dismiss that as another excercise to check off quickly in my head: “i’m grateful for a) and b), and i guess c) was nice as well, but now that that’s established, i can forget about it and go on to think about other things”. writing it down really helps to put things more in perspective, and mostly also forces me to think about them longer and more clearly, to dwell on them a little bit, even if only for the few seconds it takes me to type it up. i’m not saying that simply having them in my head didn’t do anything for me, but i do feel like this is an improvement. maybe that’s only temporary, but i guess we’ll see. no time like the future XD)

  2. I’ve been rewatching Endeavour, and it really is a fantastic show. Well, maybe I wish I was a bit less addictive with things like this, but I’m happier having them than not.
  3. It was really warm here today! Made for a very pleasant afternoon walk.

  1. Got to read a few more pages of Dr. King’s book Where Do We Go From Here: Chaos or Community while waiting to depart for our household grocery trip (and had the mental energy and composure to be able to properly appreciate it — not always the case for me with reading!)
  2. Self checkouts at both grocery stores were fairly efficient (the second store felt very efficient).
  3. Found a use for the leftover plastic serving spoons that came with catering as stand in rice spatulas when the actual rice spatula needs to be cleaned.

  1. self-gratitude-quota: i’m grateful i’ll be in bed by 1 a.m. (and likely also asleep already by that time. it’s not terribly early, but it’s earlier than yesterday, so yay for that!)
  2. i’m grateful work was not too stressful today. there was a lot to do, and there’ll be even more to do on friday (this is my tuesday-friday job XD), but i had time to enjoy lunch today, and to leave when i had planned, all without leaving like 500 important things undone, which is great!
  3. i’m grateful i’ll be home alone for a bit tomorrow after work. (my flatmate will meet with a mutual friend, and it wasn’t clear until today if she’d come to our place, but today he told me they’ll meet somewhere else. i wouldn’t mind seeing her, but i always like to know when people come over / i’m usually not in the best mood after leaving my monday-wednesday-thursday-job, so it might have been a bit stressful. i’m just happy i get to chill alone for a bit, before my flatmate comes back and we go to the theatre.)
