Gratitude journaling together

  1. Lovely long walk in the sunshine
  2. Really nice dinner out last night - we rarely go because C often finds few things she wants to eat, but this menu was a definite exception
  3. Clear night (and no local streetlights) meant the stars looked beautiful when we returned

  • self-gratitude-quota: i’m grateful that i wrote and sent off the two messages today that i really wanted/needed to send off this week. i hated the prospect of writing/drafting them, but i did it really quickly today, let a friend check them really quickly, and then just sent them off. it’s done, they’re gone! super grateful that i don’t have to worry about forgetting or doing it anymore!
  • i’m grateful that i took a walk today after work, which helped me easily reach my daily step goal.
  • i’m grateful i’ll be in bed relatively early tonight, compared to the last few days / the “average” time i tend to go to bed.

  1. Jeremy had a job interview that went well.
  2. Jeremy made chocolate cake.
  3. We had some dark chocolate left so he grated it for the top of the icing. I’m grateful to myself for putitng the chocolate away yesterday instead of letting us gorge on it all.

  1. So glad we found that local gym, only a few minutes away from this cottage
  2. Potato wedges (aka home-made chips) for lunch
  3. Really really enjoying “Too Like The Lightning”

  1. SGQ: I remembered to go back to the new house last night and remove a padlock so the electrician can access stuff, so I didn’t have to get up super early today to do that.
  2. My new Kobo handles series metadata well, in stark contrast to my old Kindle, so I can clean up my ebook library and remove my old series-managing workaround of “shoving it in the titles”.
  3. Hot tea with honey.

I’m not sure what I think of Too Like The Lightning as a standalone, but the series is one of my favorites!

  1. Thanks to my daily pushups goal, I think that my arms are visibly more beautiful than before :flushed:
  2. I went to a party yesterday with friends I didn’t see since 6 years and it was like time didn’t pass
  3. I’m rediscovering one of my favourite artists thanks to a SoundCloud recommendation

Overally, stuff that happened a long time ago is resurfacing these days, in a odd manner. It’s a series of beautiful coincidences that makes me want to keep in touch more with my past

  • i’m grateful i went for a walk today despite the rain. beeminder absolutely doing its job; i wouldn’t have met my steps goal otherwise. the rain wasn’t too bad all the time, and it was a nice time out, despite the colder weather this weekend.
  • i’m grateful for the free bubble tea i got today. first time i cashed in my stamp-card at my nearby bubble tea place! :) still had to pay for the tapioca (which makes sense), and they only give out the smaller sizes for free (which also makes sense), but it was great nonetheless! (especially considering the weater ;)
  • self-gratitude-quota: i’m grateful i made some flipbook idea drafts tonight. i am realising that this will probably be a very long and very difficult process (where do i get references from? how i do draw anything? anatomy; help‽ XD), but i had fun with the stick-figure drafts, and even though this isn’t a fully-for-fun-project (like, i need something for my application), i am having a lot of fun with all these things, and that’s super wonderful and important! (and it’s not like i’d do anything like this if i didn’t have a reason behind it …)

  1. Put in just a little time last night for my most important goal, even though I was really tired I had buffer.
  2. Got to hang out on voice chat and play Astroneers with my cousin for the first time in about five weeks.
  3. The weird smell that was bothering us is no longer in the living room!
  4. Realized my aunt and uncle exposed me to Star Trek at an early age (even before reading Tolkien) and that it was probably a good influence I took for granted until recently.

  1. I feel better for taking a few days off from almost all obligations.
  2. Finished reading a book this morning, in time I’d kind of put down as “waiting for something and not doing much” time. Good reminder to myself how much reading I used to get done in that kind of scenario!
  3. Went for a walk with my childhood best friend again; we’ll probably do it every two weeks now. That’s nice, after years of not seeing each other because of the pandemic and chronic busy-ness.

  1. Lovely long walk today, with a fantastic track going up the hill (and another coming down) that were basically in the middle of a wide hedge, trees meeting overhead
  2. Finished “Too Like The Lightning” - very impressive indeed! Need to read the next one soon, as this was quite heavy going (in terms of getting in to the people and plot), and I’ll lose it otherwise
  3. The three boy cats are playing together now, in a super-charming way

  • i’m grateful that i didn’t fight with my mother today.
  • i’m grateful my old work hours still apply the coming week. after that, because of the new uni semester (and me once again having to do some uni things), my schedule will shift around a bit, and that’ll probably take some getting used to. but not yet!
  • self-gratitude-quota: i’m grateful i had enough time and motivation today to once again meet my steps goal. got home earlier than usual on sundays, so way more time than usual to walk home at night and get the missing steps in. (i would have made it even if it’d been an hour later, but still!) so far, manually upping the daily steps by 500 each week has worked out surprisingly well; i’m at 6 000 currently, started at 5 000. i am still worried that it’ll turn out to be too much too quickly eventually, but i guess when that time comes i can just slow down again a bit and keep a rate for two or three weeks instead of one … i do need to pick up some pace, though (more than i had previously; which was zero XD), if i want my feet to survive this year’s summer vacation with my best friend, which i think will be slightly longer than last year’s, which absolutely killed my feet by the end of it. XD

  1. I’m grateful for Alys to remind me to backup our production database at work

  1. I met up with an acquaintance from a few years ago and she motivated me to finally move to Paris (I still live at my parent’s house because I only have remote jobs, but I feel like “having my own place” is a big - and I’d admit, expensive - milestones for my growth as a human)
  2. Beeminder is coercing me into doing tasks that are good for me even though I don’t feel like it that much
  3. I think the bar is putting drugs into our beers. Did you know that a famous champagne brand has been caught adding MDMA to their bottles?
  4. There is not too much consequences for me having a hard time working the past month. No-one is crying and nothing is burning. It’s a relief, but I hope I start to get back on track before it’s the case.

  • i’m grateful that my morning errands naturally brought me over my daily step goal. one less thing to worry about; it’s great when things just happen by themselves sometimes :)
  • i’m grateful that 2/3 of my errands today went successfully. and the third will probably turn out to be not a big deal, which is great!
  • self-gratitude-quota: i’m grateful that i slowly started my phone transfer at noon today. i had a little time between errands and work, and i didn’t use it to procrastinate, instead i used it to start going through my phone and taking notes on the transfer i have to do eventually. my current phone’s screen is broken to bits, and it still works but i loose more and more confidence in it as time passes. (today was the first time i noticed one key / a specific screen section being less receptive than usual.) this is i think the first time i’m making an effort to properly transfer everything (photos, app data, …) from one phone to the next, and it’s obviously a lot of work (too many apps XP), so i’m grateful i did my first baby step on this road today!
