Gratitude journaling together

  • i’m grateful for a successfull bank appointment today. there’s still some stuff that needs to be done, but that will happen tomorrow morning via phone; so i don’t need to go anywhere; and everything’s already planned, so it’s just a matter of confirming / agreeing again officially.
  • self-gratitude-quota: i’m grateful i’ve been doing a good job with my sleep diary so far. my therapist suggested i try this last week, so it’s not been very long yet, but so far i’m diligently making notes of all the things we discussed. (going-to-bed-time, wake-up-time, falling-asleep-problems, sleeping-through-the-night-problems, thoughts before going to sleep and after waking up; i think that’s everything?)
  • i’m grateful my garmin smart watch seems to have gotten a hold of itself again all by itself. earlier today it showed the time 15 to 30 minutes earlier than it actually was 0.o … and it also completely botched up my walked steps! it didn’t count a lot of them, for some reason. (my best guess is that it’s time-related, and that it had a general glitch/bugginess for a while, during which nothing worked as it was supposed to.) now it seems to be fine again, but i’ll charge it overnight just to be safe (iirc it showed me it had less battery in the morning than it did a few hours later?), and hope for the best for tomorrow!

  1. SGQ: I actually hauled myself out to the tax office to get my car registration sorted out. Only, erm, 8 months late! Luckily I suffered no consequences.
  2. The clerk at the office was very nice and helpful.
  3. My new push-reel lawn mower is surprisingly pleasant to use.

  1. Logged onto Astroneers first thing today to entice myself to get up and doing something, but I found I preferred to get started on my day instead.
  2. Turns out I am unusually tired today, but I did enough yesterday for my goals that I don’t need to worry about needing to stay up super late to keep up progress.
  3. On a whim last night, I checked my school’s webpage and found out that the financial aid priority deadline is Mar 1st, so I haven’t missed it yet!
  4. My cousin set up Astroneers on a dedicated server, so we can stop passing around the save file in anticipation of someone being absent from our family online game time.
  5. Looking like all players will be available this weekend to continue our tabletop campaign!

Happy St David’s Day! :wales: There are some daffodils coming up in our garden; I’ll need to check later if any of them have opened in honour of the date.

  1. The seller of my adorable FFXIV earrings actually included an extra pair for my wife!
  2. Me and Lisa had a good discussion about potentially moving. (We decided against it: our rent here is very much lower than the current market average, allowing us to save up the difference toward our costs of moving down to Wales.)
  3. I had a nice dream about Breakfast (one of my bunnies, who passed a few years ago). I was sad to wake up, but I’m glad I got to so vividly hang out with him again for a while, even in a dream.

  1. That the last critical item was installed in our new house yesterday - a smart electricity meter. This means there should be no more obstacles to completion next week!
  2. How well the three boy cats are getting on together
  3. To have moved nearer my favourite uncle, who has recently received a bad diagnosis

  1. SGQ: I stayed up a little too late, but I’m grateful I was able to stop that and go to bed before it got truly drastic.
  2. The DnD campaign I just started playing in had our second session yesterday and everyone is starting to find their characters and settle in together and it’s just so nice!
  3. I got to play a game of OTB chess before dnd yesterday with a group I haven’t been able to see for three or four weeks.

  • i’m grateful my boss agreed to an idea i had at work today. it’s just a small thing, but it means that now i’ll be able to deliver slightly happier (hopefully) news to someone. (and obviously i like my idea, so it feels good to have it implemented.)
  • i’m grateful that my mother only needs to pay slightly more running costs than before. she’d been super worried that it would be a double increase or something, so it’s a relief that it’s not that bad; easier financially for the both of us.
  • self-gratitude-quota: i’m grateful that i sorted through a lot of the apps on my phone in preparation for finally (eventually) setting up my new phone. i have now made an absolute mess of my set-up, almost nothing is where it’s supposed to be / where i could find it easily … instead the apps are sorted mostly by criteria like “don’t need to worry about this because i can just login and thus fetch all the data” and “there’s a complicated sync setup process involved which requires both phones to be next to each other for a time and possibly other, even more complicated, shenanigangs, which i haven’t even looked into yet”. almost everything thrown knee-deep into folders as well, which assures that i basically won’t find anything without the search XD hopefully this will push me to continue with this and then finish it sooner rather than later!

  1. Made it through Wednesday, my most difficult day because of back to back commitments.
  2. Filing the FAFSA was so much easier than I remember it being in the past, and they’re using my 2021 tax information, so I didn’t need to estimate my 2022 AGI or anything like that. Thanks, government technologists!
  3. I love the “Twilight” jazz arrangement of “Caesura of Despair”; it’s really the perfect song to wrap up my nightly end-of-night playlist.

  3. I finally found where an annoying warning at work was coming from and fixed it.

  • i’m grateful for today’s therapy session. we broached an uncomfortable topic, but it wasn’t as difficult as i’d expected, and just talking about it and trying to remember things gave me some new food for thought.
  • self-gratitude-quota: i’m grateful i did the post office customs thing today! they sent me a letter two weeks or so ago, because some info is missing for a package i should receive. obviously i forgot about the letter because i didn’t take care of it immediately. but cleaning out the coffee table today made it resurface, luckily still in time! (deadline’s the 6th.) i just hope they’ll accept the things i sent them, because there’s really nothing more i could show them as proof. i’ve already realised i won’t be super mad if i don’t end up getting the package, but it would still be annoying, especially after i just took the time today to collect and send them all the things.
  • i’m grateful i wasn’t permanently logged out of my notes app today. there were some weird password shenanigans, i guess i mistyped the new password i set recently? they don’t make you write it twice, so i probably wrote passwird instead of password, lol. (none of my passwords are “password,” this is just an example for illustration purposes :P)

  1. Database is backing up and I feel more peaceful at night. The system works pretty well. There are bugs but I’m at peace.
  2. A friend invited me to a party! But it’s too far away from me. BUT I’m planning on moving to Paris to fix this kind of situations. And get a car. It’s hard but I have a good temporary life goal to pursue, now.
  3. SGQ: I was able to say a soft “no” to a feature request from a customer instead of accumulating more stress.
  4. My sister seems to enjoy her life

  • i’m grateful for a chill end to my work day, we basically just had a relaxed meeting / conversation.
  • self-gratitude-quota: i’m grateful that the smol walk i took after work accumulated enough steps to meet my daily goal, along with all the ones I’d walked before that.
  • i’m grateful i discovered a new impromptu scratching device.

  4. Time is moving faster:running_man:

Relationships are like the wood that helps “my flame” burn. Without it, work is both unproductive and a pain.

I find it fascinating how long it took me to come to this realization!

What’s a scratching device? Like a fork to scratch your back or more like a DJs vinyl player?

  2. We’re approaching my favourite time of year weather-wise and we had a small taste of it this morning.
  3. A software upgrade I did yesterday went well (the same one that had failed earlier in the week). I’m grateful to myself for the extra database server reconfiguration I did first and the slight difference in the upgrade method because those may have helped.

the former in this case! i don’t have a vinyl player, unfortunately (nor would i really have room for one). “scratching device” is probably not the most ideal term for what i wanted to say, but english isn’t my native language, and when i wrote that i was slightly drunk and very rushed, and couldn’t be bothered to think of a better word XD but i guess it works well enough if one of your guesses was actually what i meant! :D

  • self-gratitude-quota: i’m grateful that i spent my “lazing around in bed for [censored amount of time] after waking up” time partially productive! i caught up with all my webtoons and did other fun things, but i also went through some phone apps again and figured out what i need to do for them in preparation for the transfer (if anything).
  • i’m grateful i decided not to walk home all the way from the uni library today. i already walked all the way to the library, and because the tram home left right under my nose, i decided to take the next one, so i also walked more than intended on my way home. i’m well above my daily steps goal, and i had more books to carry on my way home, too—i guess the mere fact that i’m justifying myself here, shows that this is somehow a thing i need to justify to myself XD which it absolutely isn’t! because while i enjoyed the walk home, i’m glad i didn’t force myself to spend more time on my feet for some abstract reason.
  • I’M SO GRATEFUL MY FLIPBOOK IDEA SEEMS TO BE WORKING OUT!! sorry for screaming but I’M SO EXCITED!! the only time i ever did a flipbook before was once at school: i drew two flies, one of them getting eaten by a frog. this current one is gonna have a lot more complex shapes which i have no idea how to do, and it’s also considerably longer, but the roughest stick-figure-draft i did done today is an actual, workable draft!! i think! i can go from there! somewhere! probably! anyway, i’m excited!! it was even recognisable to at least one person who didn’t know what it’s supposed to be! here’s the opus stick-figure-um for anyone interested.
