Gratitude journaling together

  1. I have “graduated” to using silicone scar sheets (and some bandages to apply pressure) for my leg instead of just dressings.
  2. Feeling pretty chill and like I can get stuff done.
  3. Started studying for next semester yesterday; it’s nice to start ahead of time and get a bit ahead.

  1. “I’m a Barbie Girl” played in the styles of classical composers, with informative and fun annotations (“sparkly piano noises”!)
  2. Our city’s libraries have a thing in their ebook lending system where you can put a book on hold but then when it’s available for you, if you’re too busy to read it, you can suspend your hold until later, so that someone else can use it.
  3. SGQ: I got all my goals to green before mid-afternoon.

  • self-gratitude: i’m grateful to my past self for making sure that i have two different ways of dealing with [a situation]. so when one feels exhausting and like too much work and too overwhelming, i can just use the other one, which takes much less effort while still bringing about basically the same results.
  • i’m grateful for the nice pharmacist i talked to today.
  • i’m super grateful a situation turned out better than intially expected.

  1. A weekend with minimal plans.
  2. Got in the mood to read and steamed through a book. (Rob Brotherton’s Bad News: Why We Fall For Fake News, which is less about fake news per se and more about the news in general.)
  3. It’s brighter weather today, which means I might be able to go for my bi-weekly walk with my childhood bestie tomorrow. It’ll have been three weeks since we managed to go because of weather!

  • i’m grateful for my flatmate.
  • self-gratitude: i’m grateful i “tricked” myself into a new beeminder goal today. i created it today, but with more than 7 days of leeway, to only really start after my next “vacation”. so by the time it turns red i can’t simply delete it anymore (not that i’ve ever done that)! also i called it whoatidyflat which abbreviates to wtf and that just gives me joy :)

  • i’m grateful (and positively surprised) that i found a solution to a problem quicker and easier than anticipated today.
  • self-gratitude: i’m grateful i’ll be in bed early-ish tonight. (yes yes i know it’s only gonna be between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m., but mondays i start work super late, so i don’t need an early alarm, so that still means a hopefully respectable amount of sleep! :)
  • i’m grateful it’s not too late for me to do [thing] yet. i still have a couple of days. i absolutely should have already been doing it, but it also doesn’t matter if i do it tomorrow (or the day after …). i don’t know why i have this weird barrier again about doing [thing], it’s only gonna take 5 minutes, if that, and it does really not require a lot of effort … anyway, i’m grateful i will still be fine if i do it tomorrow (or within another one of the next few days …) …

  1. That when there are downturns in my life so, the big, hazy uncertain picture is still stable enough that most of what I really need to do is get by with less, be more patient, accept more inconvenience, postpone optional activities, acknowledge that progress is going to slow down, and toughing it out in general — all that I’m pretty good at — rather than panic that things are going completely off rails
  2. Big derpy baby
  3. Reminder from group coaching that just because a system stops working so well doesn’t mean it was bad or a waste of time — maybe it’s just time to adjust or adapt it when things change!
