Gratitude journaling together

  1. The Distract Me Not Firefox extension sends me to my Readwise Reader inbox every time I try to view a time wasting site like twitter.
  2. An electrician has given me a good price for installing some new smoke alarms.
  3. SGQ: I powered through many tasks today, keeping good focus on all of them.

  1. Serial Cleaners proved very absorbing and fun, even though I’m a little disappointed about some changes in style since the first game.
  2. New British Library Crime Classic book has arrived! (From my subscription.)
  3. The person who tried out our FFXIV static on Monday is probably going to stay, which makes us 7/8 now. Just one more and we can stop relying on the game’s Party Finder system.

  • self-gratitude: i’m grateful to myself for writing an e-mail this afternoon that i really needed to write. i actually should have written it last night, because then i might have already had a reply today, but better this late than even more later!
  • i’m grateful i’ll probably get new headphone cables soon. this is actually a gratitude a few days old, but i was just reminded of it, so it shall count for today. (normally i try to think of things that happened on the same day i’m posting these, but since i didn’t use this one yet and since it definitely merits a gratitude, it counts!)
  • i’m grateful memrise exists. i really should use it more often! the videos are so adorable. unfortunately i believe the app got a little worse since i used it last, but the videos are still super adorable and make me smile, so that’s good! maybe i should consider using it more often for other languages apart from the current beeminder goal i have for it …

  1. SGQ: I’m glad I took the time to set up a really nice meditation session today instead of just doing the bare minimum.
  2. A proper rainstorm for the first time in a long time! We’ve had a few spits and spats but it’s been months without a proper soaking.
  3. The opportunity to share some scripts I’ve written with a friend to try to help their processes out.

  1. My static finally cleared the Tenth Circle of Pandaemonium Savage. On Friday we get to start the Savage version of one of my favourite fights! (Next Wednesday we will have to clear the Tenth Circle again, but shush, let us bask.)
  2. I’ve finally “allowed” myself to get started on my reread of Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell (Susanna Clarke). I like the book a lot, but at 1006 pages it’s quite the commitment, and I was constantly saying “read something new first before you reread that chonker”. Well, now’s the time.
  3. Got started on things quickly this morning, yay me.

  1. Finally making headway with migrating my website to a new static provider (had gotten lost in a twisty maze of registrars and nested DNS servers)
  2. Pleasingly tired after today’s Bodycombat session
  3. Sold some old camera equipment successfully, so can now go forth and buy the next (less expensive!) bits I’m after

  1. CPAP machine (and that I got used to it easily)
  2. my classes this semester, all three of which are really great
  3. that I don’t have as much financial pressure as I expected this term and can focus on classes a bit more

This is such a good idea! I wonder if I can finagle a system handler to open up Anki Desktop in a similar fashion. If not, I might just have it open AnkiWeb.

  1. We have nine party members lined up for tonight’s first foray into P11S, and we only need eight… so we should be able to start right away this evening! (Two are just volunteers who’ve cleared it before, to help us learn, so we’ll just take one of the two. It’s not possible to take nine people, alas!)
  2. Work’s been quiet today and I’m kind of headachy, so I took it as a sign from the universe and have been taking personal time.
  3. I had to use my credit card for something, because apparently my credit score gets dinged if I have less than 1% credit utilisation, so I had to buy a couple of new books. I was just forced to. Very sad. Yes.

  • i’m grateful that a thing at work today worked immediately. finally i remembered what the problem had been the last few times (because i’d written it down).
  • self-gratitude: i’m grateful i’m choosing sleep over [some other thing which should also be done]. but sleep is important and it’s late already and i’ll try to try my best tomorrow.
  • i’m grateful the nights are still cool. can’t get the flat below 24C, but that’s still very cool. (don’t have a pool or a pool table, though. :p)

  3. The Readwise Reader app crashed this morning a couple of times, so I went and did something else instead and didn’t bother reporting it. Less than three hours later, the Readwise founder emailed me to say that their logs had told me that I (and some other users) had been affected by a problem that caused me to see crashes, that they were very sorry, and that their mobile app engineers were working over the weekend to fix the problem. I am blown away by how responsive and helpful they are.
