Gratitude journaling together

  1. I was proper spoiled for Christmas, wow!
  2. Most especially, a callout to my new Toasty Touch gloves, which are thin and lightweight enough to wear while doing most things around the house, and mean we can turn our thermostat down by about 2℃ and still have me comfortable, not in pain, and able to function. I’m a little sad I hesitated for so long about getting these, and I’m really glad my wife just went for it for me. I’ve bought a second pair already, to act as a backup!
  3. The label printer I got for my mother went down well, as it’s allowing her to “write” her Christmas cards etc despite her broken arm! I didn’t intend that when I got it (I just use mine for writing addresses, especially for Postcrossing cards with Cyrillic characters etc), but it’s a nice side effect.

  1. Lisa got me a couple of sweatshirts for Christmas and I am very cosy. Today’s says “so many books, so little time”.
  2. An extra present arrived today for me in the form of earrings inspired by the style of Hua Cheng in Heaven Official’s Blessing. They’re cute butterflies, but also there’s a red bead on each.
  3. The card games I got Lisa for Christmas have gone down well, though I am a fiend for winning at Sneaky Goose. I think we’ve played 20 rounds (four games), and I won all but one round… I think it just made Lisa more determined to win, though!

  1. A tree has come down in our garden due to the snow, but nothing was damaged and it doesn’t look like it’ll be too much of a job to move it.
  2. I got seven hours of sleep.
  3. Managed some really good runs of the first extreme of Dawntrail in FFXIV with some friends from my free company last night, despite having felt kind of cranky and uninterested in it beforehand.

  1. Onto a section of my course I’m actually enjoying right now.
  2. Found a great toiletries bag to use while travelling. It has a hook on the flap so you can hang it up open! I can’t believe I’m so excited about this. I feel way too grown up.
  3. Slept in bed instead of needing to move to sleep in my office for a couple of nights, so feeling refreshed.

  1. Now that I have speakers plugged into my keyboard, it’s even more enjoyable to play! (Should have done this long ago—was using headphones.)
  2. I’m really enjoying Girl’s Band Cry.
  3. After reorganizing my kitchen cupboards a bit, I am finding things I take out normally a lot easier to access!

  1. The car got into a predicament yesterday, but this morning (with a little help from neighbours), we managed to get it back to safety.
  2. Managed to rearrange the appointment I couldn’t get to because of the car issues.
  3. Starting/ending my day with a little reading does seem to help things feel more chill.

  1. Time for a hopefully chill weekend!
  2. Thaw should start tomorrow-ish for a slightly less chilly weekend.
  3. Lisa found a crafting bag for me to use to store my heated gloves and the batteries for them… and then we made it even better by ripping out some of the stitches that made pockets in order to make slightly bigger pockets. They are now perfectly sized to safely hold the batteries.

  1. I’ve done quite a bit of reading this weekend.
  2. My ‘onechore’ goal has been steadily encouraging me to improve on some stuff around the house that isn’t actually in my usual chores list.
  3. I don’t know why, but Vienna Teng’s song “Goodnight New York” has been stuck in my head in a lovely way for days.

  1. One of our bunnies had to go to the vet last night, but with some painkillers and gut motility medication, we seem to have pulled him through it.
  2. Thankful that we know our rabbits well enough to act fast.
  3. The tenth volume of A Gentle Noble’s Vacation Recommendation is out, and I have it!

  1. One of my goals nudged me to actually do some cleaning/organising of a much-neglected shelf in the bathroom. As ever, it didn’t take as long as I feared…
  2. Eclair is definitely better and being his normal cute self.
  3. Lisa bought me more peppermint chocolate.

  3. Al Raqs online conference has started and the lectures have been incredibly interesting.

  1. I found a good portable screen that didn’t cost the earth, so I can still have a two-screen setup while working on my laptop while I’m away.
  2. Secretly grateful that something I’d sort of planned to do tomorrow is cancelled. So bussyyyy.
  3. Snuggles with the bunnies when I feel bad.

  1. Figured out a way of having a to-do list for today (kinda) while going with my whims, which is feeling quite satisfying.
  2. All the stuff I have to organise my luggage etc. The latest thing is a cable organiser, of the sort that has a deep pocket with room for (ridiculously large) British plugs.
  3. I got two new minions yesterday in FFXIV!

  1. All the kindness and mutual support and insight and caring in the Beeminder community. So many deeply good people. (I’ve probably used this one before; it’s the first thing that comes to mind when I see this thread.)
  2. Working with my sister again (on Melzaminder as we call it) is pretty great.
  3. Google sheets programming has gotten way more like real programming. So many cool, powerful things you can do in a spreadsheet, little ad hoc apps you can create for a group of people. And of course the wild amounts of utility LLMs provide in doing so.

Ooh, is this worth a new forum thread? I’ve been thinking again recently about Todournament, how clever and powerful it is (thanks @alltom!), and how maybe I just need soooome little extra push to have it be a day-to-day driver of productivity for me.

I can post about it! It was a surprisingly fun way of going about my Sunday while ensuring I did a little bit of everything.

  1. Getting vaxxed today! Hurrah that I can afford to do such a thing, even though the UK has more or less ended support for people with mild-to-moderate asthma to receive COVID vaccines.
  2. Also, the disposable income to feel chill about fixing an annoying situation by throwing money at it, in general. Not that I’m rolling in money, but I have enough to just go “ugh, okay, fine, here’s money” about certain important things, and that’s great.
  3. Managed to get the Skyruin mount in FFXIV last night (which requires beating the first EX fight of the expansion + luck that the mount will drop + luck in being the one [of eight] to win it)! Someone described the effect as being that my character now looks like the second stage of a final boss in a main-series Final Fantasy game, and honestly… yeah.

  1. Reading a fascinating book (The Immune Mind by Monty Lyman).
  2. Talking with my mum about said book!
  3. Managed to get a new stand for my second screen which can lift it a bit higher, so I can stack my monitors vertically. I know a lot of people don’t like that, but I prefer it!
