- Lisa’s been enjoying the craft kits in their advent calendar.
- Realised I can read New Scientist on my ereader via my library, just as I’d been tempted again to get a subscription. No subscription needed, hurrah for libraries.
- There will be chorizo in dinner!

- Spontaneously picked up a random book to read today – it’s been a bit since I spontaneously grabbed something and got stuck in.

- Was caught out on my bike in some heavy rain - extremely grateful to my DU/ER waterproof cycling jeans, which I bought a while back and kept my legs amazingly dry.
- Then in the afternoon we bought this year’s Christmas Tree: although it won’t go up for a week or so, we’ve learned that if you don’t buy them early and stash them, all the good ones have gone by the time you actually want to deploy it.
- Cat is doing better on the new meds

- Lisa took my old phone to the post office to send in as my trade-in.
- Apparently, there are bags of Quality Street chocolates that contain only my favourites (the fruity soft centres). Lisa’s hunting for one today!

Not sure if it’s forbidden to add a few sentences of non-gratitude, but have been a bit stressed of late and it seemed doing this every few days might be worthwhile. Plus, it will reduce the pressure on my beeminder_forum
goal, although perhaps in a slightly cheaty way.
- The pecan pie I bought at costco on the weekend is delicious.
- Although work is a bit stressful now… I have a lot of exciting plans for the future, after I get through the current crunch!
- I’ve managed to find more time recently to spend with someone I’d really like to be better friends with.

- Today went mostly smoothly.
- The Humble Bundle of all of Ursula Le Guin’s work reminded me of the existence of Catwings, which has been fun to revisit.
- A Christmas present from my bosses at Postcrossing (Around the World in 80 Birds, from the lovely series of Around the World in… books, which are all beautifully illustrated).

- The annual Christmas tradition of seeing the light display at a local park was still fun for the kids. My oldest is a tween now, so a lot of Christmas magic is not there for him. However, he still had child-like wonderment at the display and fun looking for all the little funny things they put in the light show every year (the purple hippo and the Christmas dragon must be found or we have to drive back through the display).
- Found a fun ornament based on the Root board game that might actually get here in time to go on the tree this year (fingers crossed on shipping).
- Just waiting on one final Christmas present to arrive, and luckily it’s for an adult who we see fairly often, so if we have to be like “Sorry, it’s coming late,” it’s not a big deal.

- Yesterday was my last full day of work for a week. (Albeit the free time is largely intended for studying.)
- I’m close to finishing up with one of my classes (apart from assignment/exam).
- The local bookshop that had a window smashed last week was quickly up and running again, with just one day they had to stay closed. And they were so quick to send me the stuff I ordered online, too, despite the trouble!

- A random person I’ve never met before in FFXIV decided to give me a new minion for free. And they threw in 1 million gil as well. It was very sweet.
- A friend who’s been quiet for a bit is hopefully going to have a bit more time to chat and hang out in the new year.
- Lisa has much baking planned this week. Cookies (with some fancy new cookie cutters shaped like FFXIV characters), tiramisu, and lemon meringue pie.
