Gratitude journaling together

I’m finding beeminding the books I’m struggling with – or which are just a bit daunting for whatever reason – really helpful. The trick was to set a super gentle slope… with an auto-ratchet. No way to gain buffer, so it quickly eats up the book.

Looks like you might be a bit ahead of me on The Fifth Season!

My three things for today:

  1. Increased dose of my anxiety meds. It’s hard to gauge if it’s helping already or if I’m just calmer naturally.
  2. I’ve got a whole list of people to send cards for World Postcard Day!
  3. There are Rupert Bear stamps!

  1. Jeremy and I went shopping for new tiles for the bathroom floor. We found some that look great and won’t show the thick layer of dirt that will inevitably accumulate after approximately 2.3 days if I know my house. The current tiles have been in place for roughly 40 years and are showing their age.
  2. Board games with a friend.
  3. The largest Bearded Dragon lizard has emerged from his winter hiding place.

  1. Nextdoor. It’s normally a pain, but hey, we’re probably going to be able to get rid of our old rabbit hutch this way without needing to take it to the tip.
  2. My smart water bottle. I really have never been so hydrated.
  3. It’s bathroom cleaning day! I rather like cleaning bathrooms. Way better than other chores.
  1. I got out of bed early today for some urgent work even though insomnia had stopped me getting to sleep early.
  2. A long chat with an old friend I haven’t seen for a while.
  3. Jeremy made a plate of cheeses, meats, and olives for dinner.

  3. My sister got some good news!
  1. Brussel sprouts for dinner that had been lightly charred and were delicious.
  2. I met a cat who was very playful but so gentle. I didn’t feel her claws once.
  3. I had the most fun dream in which I was helping President Obama in meetings with people.
  1. Feeling femme and wearing dresses.
  2. The sandals I originally bought for my wedding are actually super-comfy for walking in, whoo.
  3. I got paid by one of my clients.
  1. Orange blossom scent while I was out walking.
  2. Steak for dinner.
  3. Warm frothy milk with tumeric, cinnamon, black pepper, and a little sugar.

  2. My “just five pages a day” method is totally working to get some long-term unfinished books cleared off the shelf of abandoned books.

  1. Jeremy: “I’m making salad. You can tell by the bacon-frying sounds.”
  2. My TagTime starting-not-staring goal has worked so well as stopping me from doom-switching that I’ve changed the “Frozen / Switching Aimlessly” tag to “Frozen / Switching Unnecessarily” so that it’s now helping me control mutitasking too.
  3. StudyBunny has a new Laboratory scene so I’m working towards buying items to decorate that.

  1. Getting to do a trial run of things with my sister.

  1. Both scrub turkeys are in the yard today. I haven’t seen one for a while.

  1. The company who dealt with our tent caterpillar infection are awesome. They’ve come back for their third check and want to do another in a fortnight even though the quote included just two visits.
  2. The smell of Rid insect repellent. It reminds me of camping with my mother when I was a child.
  3. Forest has a new method of choosing the tree to plant, which I prefer.

  1. Four working days until I have a week off!
  2. We’re going to Nostell Priory tomorrow. (We’ll be staying outdoors, in the parkland and gardens. They have timed arrival slots in the car park to reduce contact with people.) I am excited to stretch my legs.
  3. My teeny-tiny crafting project is going to work.
  1. I reread some chapters from a book that has helped me reduce (temporarily) some of my anxiety levels and take some action.
  2. I have talked with my parents today.
  3. I drank an special artisian water that a friend bought for me.
  1. I made an error at work that caused an outage for a client’s system on Friday night, and this morning my team were very understanding about it.
  2. I worried about it for half the weekend but then realised that I’d done the same kind of work numerous times without error, and most of the anxiety disappeared. This is a level of emotional maturity that I don’t normally display.
  3. This youtube video, featuring three of Australia’s right-wing racist politicians with voices from the Simpsons. It’s perfect.

  1. Two working days until I have a week off! Yeah sorry this countdown will be a whole thing. (It’s jumped to two from four because I posted early on Sunday and late today, so have finished Sunday and Monday’s working days since. Promise my math isn’t that bad.)
  2. Bread with dinner! I love bread.
  3. We had a good long walk.
