- Finished Split Fiction’s main story, still think it was a lot of fun! (And some good accessibility options, too.) We’re just chasing down some achievements now. It was nice to get to play something where playing with Lisa was not optional but necessary.
- I had a bunch of credit for books from tradeins so got the rest of a series I’m interested in on Bookshop.org as a New Year treat.
- So many other fun new books to read thanks to my Christmas gifts!

- We got 100% on Split Fiction without anything too annoying! So it all stayed fun.
- We’ve picked up another game by the same developer, It Takes Two. A lot of similar mechanics, just a somewhat different style. And it wasn’t nearly so expensive, ahaha.
- Close to meeting my 2025 reading goal…

- Met my 2025 reading goal, and feel really happy with my progress on my TBR last month.
- Lisa decided to kick off my reading year by getting me a couple more volumes of Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint (the manhwa). Excited!
- Figured out a less painful way of getting a bunch of achievements in FFXIV. It’s a bit time-consuming, but nothing like the way I was handling it before.

- Got some fun games in the Steam sale: Slay the Spire and Coffee Caravan are definitely keeping me occupied so far, though I have a couple more to try.
- Finally catching up on some sleep debt I incurred due partly to bad choices and partly finding it difficult to stay asleep long enough on a morning. Hurrah for my body starting to learn to sleep again.
- Bongo Cat is a cute and fun thing to have running while spending a lot of time on the PC. My cat has a book for a hat now! I like sitting around in a lobby and seeing other people working away as well. Sometimes I’ll send an emoji like a couple of waves and click my kitty to say “meow meow”, and watch other people waving back and saying “meow meow” in return. There’s no other chatting, so it’s not super distracting, just kinda like coworking quietly.

- Weekend, and thus hopefully some time to play co-op games with my wife again.
- Did the first new raid in FFXIV for the first time on Wednesday, we got about 75% of the way through the boss health, more like 90% through the mechanics of the fight, so good chance we’ll beat it tonight!
- Taco soup for dinner.

- Snuggly kitty!
- The postal worker showed up just when I needed help getting a package out of the mailbox (it seems that it fit in his end, but was just too big to come out again on my end).

- Having fun playing Blue Prince. Lisa’s also playing it so we’re pooling some knowledge/experience.
- Tacos for dinner!
- Lots of reading today. (Mostly Cory Doctorow’s Enshittification, so far.)

- Spent a lot of time reading today and it was a lot of fun!
- Also had a great time hanging out with a friend I hadn’t seen for a few weeks while I was visiting home!
- Started putting up some of the new prints I bought at the artist alley of the con I went to before I went home! Ahh, they are beautiful!

- Finally managed to beat a run of Slay the Spire!
- We’ve kept the house pretty tidy, so preparing for a house inspection is no big deal.
- Mum’s sorted out a dentist appointment for me and will go with me. (Big dental phobia + a little dental trauma, to the point of being sometimes non-verbal and/or flashbacks, so having Mum along helps.)

- Even though the house was pretty clean and tidy, the house inspection spurred us to do a really thorough job of getting things tidy, and… I was already pretty happy, but this is lovely!
- Working at my parents’ today out of the way of any disruption, and Dad even came to pick me up. It’s going to be weird if my parents move down to Wales before we do and they’re not around for this kind of thing, but gonna be grateful for them while they are.
- The book I wanted to get for Dad for Christmas finally arrived, and he seems interested, yay.

- Found some books at my parents that I can sell to Bookloop for credits, woooo. Dad’s going to seal that up and get it sent off, and I’ll get £30. Not bad for books I’d forgotten existed!
- Plans for time off coming together well and should cover some of my dental work and my annual eye test too.
- I don’t know if I mentioned, I don’t think so, but at Christmas Lisa got me a little plush of my favourite FFXIV character. I use the “Wind-Up” version of him as my minion in-game… and now he’s my little good luck charm in the real world too.

- A friend brought a huge container of Cheetos Puffs to game night. It had been a while since I’d had anything with the bright orange fake cheese dust, and I do really enjoy it.
- New podcast find: No Gods No Mayors. I’m a few episodes in and really enjoying it so far.
- Got the daughter a bow and arrow for Christmas. It’s been a long time since I’ve done anything archery-related. I’ve been having fun relearning and teaching her.

- Putting in some extra time getting stuff done before I take time off, and finding it satisfying, even if it’s a lot. I couldn’t keep this up, but it is nice to survey my works at the end of the day!
- Lisa’s helping me out with a blog post for Postcrossing, letting me take pictures of the miniature they’re building.
- Biscuit being all cuddly and affectionate today.
