Gratitude journaling together

  1. My parents had lots of advice for Lisa’s job dilemma.
  2. Gas appliance check was quick and easy.
  3. Worked hard today on some cleaning and tidying before the plumber came to do the gas inspection, so now I am pleasantly tired.
  1. My hairdresser understands the importance of face masks.
  2. I had a nice chat to our neighbour. She’s very tolerant of my trees that hang their branches over her yard.
  3. Jeremy’s been doing some great tidying in our living room. It’s almost livable.
  1. More tidying/cleaning done. I’m so much happier for it.
  2. Our new vacuum cleaner is a Shark so I can entertain myself making Jaws theme sounds while I clean.
  3. Got my taxes done so now they’re out of the way.
  1. It’s Friday!
  2. I’ve printed out my next assignment and it is not totally baffling. Little bit baffling, not totally.
  3. The library bought an ebook I requested!
  1. The Bayesian willpower theory blog posts from Beeminder and from Scott Alexander. Very thought provoking! I feel like I may understand my mind slightly better now.
  2. My experiments with making porridge in a rice cooker are progressing well. Soaking rolled oats in cold water in the fridge for a day means the porridge is smoother with less cooking.

  1. Our ice cream subscription feels very worth it right now.
  2. Played FFXIV most of the day; enjoying my new class! (Gunbreaker, a tank; I was previously playing Scholar, a healer. In case anyone cared!)
  3. Lisa helped me take care of a lesion on my finger that was pretty nasty and upsetting.
  1. I will have therapy this week, after a good long time of “thinking it over”. I am very ready to start the reprocessing part, thankyouverymuch.
  2. Taking good care of it means my finger is healing really fast.
  3. I think I managed to help cheer up a friend.
  1. Lunchtime gaming session perked both me and Lisa up.
  2. My new shampoo/conditioner might perk my hair up.
  3. Secret present for someone is in the post and that always gives me a warm glow.
  1. I’m in a safe enough place that the unilateral cancellation of all my expected remaining therapy sessions is… okay, it’s not great, and I’m really struggling with it in many ways, but I am grateful I’m still okay to get up and work today and do normal stuff.
  2. I secretly bought Lisa a “minion” on FFXIV yesterday and that was fun. (It was the dwarf rabbit minion, it gave them delight.)
  3. I’m looking forward to washing my hair.
  1. My therapist apparently did at least try to apply for more time, and I might be able to self-fund it.
  2. New bookssss.
  3. I have some really lovely friends who are willing to do whatever is needed, and that’s pretty astounding. :blue_heart:
  1. Jeremy found stem ginger biscuits that are VERY close (maybe identical except for shape) to ones that I loved when I was last in England.
  2. Beeminder will stop me eating twenty bscuits a day.
  3. A new coworker to share workload and to chat to. :yellow_heart:

  2. A new USB cable fixed my gaming controller issues.
  3. Did a dungeon on FFXIV with a group who were super friendly and helpful, and showed us where all the secrets were.
  1. I saw a shooting star last night, the first in a while. It was short-lived but very bright.
  2. Breakfast today was egg and breadcrumbs, tea, and half a stem ginger biscuit to dunk in it.

  1. Dad spent part of today planting new things in our “wildflower meadow”. He’s very enthusiastic about it and making it look nice for us; I hope it’s gonna work!
  2. Lisa’s boss’ boss paid for everyone on the team (plus their families) to have a treat – in our case, Chinese takeout from the restaurant that has always been my favourite.
  3. Just got totally caught up in a book! I always miss that sensation when it’s elusive.

  1. Three butcherbirds politely lined up on a window sill to take cheese from me. As each one got a piece, it flew off, allowing the others to hop up one spot closer.
  2. Jeremy has been making twice-baked potatoes for dinners.

  1. shanaqui exists. I was just thinking while reading other threads how impressed I am with how well they’ve succeeded at using and working for Beeminder.
  2. I had home-made goat curry for dinner.
  3. Reflection app - an online journal with a clean interface and optional journalling prompts. It has a two-week introductory set of prompts that I’ve found useful for thinking about what and how I want to improve myself. I like the idea of journaling but haven’t been consistent with it since becoming an adult so I’m giving this a try and liking it so far. It has a guided monthly review that I’m looking forward to at the end of this month.
  1. Mini-games that make a good break during work.
  2. Lisa got us takeout because I just felt really meh about the food choices we had.
  3. Clippers at the ready: planning to sort out my hair in the next couple of days. Waaay too long. Looking forward to it being short again.
  1. It’s blanket weather today, so I’m sitting on couch with one over me.
  2. A glitch in my headphones that caused a rattle in one ear has fixed itself!
  3. Clothes washing machines. I think I’ve mentioned them before but I’m still so bloody grateful there’s a machine for that task.

  3. My little portable heater. Even when I’m not cold, there’s something so comforting about being extra toasty.
