Gratitude journaling together

  1. Grass. It didn’t always exist and it’s hard to imagine what the world would look like without it.
  2. Fresh water on tap.
  3. The electricity grid.

  1. Grocery delivery. I didn’t realize exactly how stressful and time consuming grocery shopping was until I didn’t have to do it regularly.
  2. Foam mattress topper. It’s like a whole new bed.
  3. My cat. The best foot warmer/alarm clock ever.

  1. I tried to help someone understand why the thing they were saying was misinformation, in a Whatsapp group, and I got a few messages saying thank you.
  2. I actually felt like picking up a book from my Netgalley backlog! Thank goodness stuff I send to Kindle stays there, even when the book gets archived from Netgalley.
  3. I managed to finish work preeeetty much on time.

  1. I stayed in bed this morning for a while with a headache and Jeremy brought me snacks and coffee.
  2. Ants cleaned up some food that I’d spilled on a table that has carving in it so that getting bits of food out is very tricky. But not for ants!
  3. I have today (Friday) off work.

Also read that one, probably at a similar pace! I’m also subscribed to his (Dutch) podcast.

  1. Catching up on some sleep.
  2. Bought some books with a year-old gift card.
  3. Some off-hand comment prompting me start a Stargate rewatch, which I probably never even saw in its entirety, due to cable tv scheduling and being a kid when it first aired. It made me realize we seem to have completely lost actual orchestral scores in television series. Not sure if I should accompany this with either a hustler or a drinker goal, but I’m pretty sure starting this rewatch already cost me $10 in derailments on my other goals.

  1. Stargate, yes! It’s a great series. I rewatch it every few years.
  2. This morning the neighbourhood was so quiet that with the wind in the trees masking distant traffic noise, I couldn’t hear anything except natural sounds.
  3. The female bearded dragon let me stroke her back while she was eating mealworms.

  1. I put some reflectors on my bike that I’d had for 4+ years
  2. Weather was beautifully sunny
  3. Tomorrow is another weekend day
  1. Learning new things from a book I didn’t expect to have much to teach me. For instance, I knew nothing about neutrophil extracellular traps. In the book, this is colourfully described as being like if a security guard ran up to a thief in a museum, then disemboweled himself, pulled out his intestines, studded them with sharp things, and swung them around to hurt and trap the robber. It’s bizarre and amazing.
  2. Telling my wife about things like this. They’re always interested and ask good questions and share the sense of wonder.
  3. I’m in some Whatsapp groups for people in my course, and they’re really helpful sometimes.

  1. A good night’s sleep.
  2. Omelette for breakfast.
  3. We have a kerbside rubbish collection this week. That’s where everyone in the area can put any large items out on the footpath this weekend and the council sends people around to collect it all during the week (for reselling where possible or for taking to the tip). It’s been too years since the last one and I’ve finally got rid of an old, rusty, broken trellis.

  1. The book I’m reading about immunity is aimed at an average audience, but I’m still learning stuff and it’s clarifying for me how some processes work in the really clear way it lays them out. It’s making it easier to remember!
  2. I fit some chill reading time into this morning when I got overwhelmed, and it really helped.
  3. My old FC (guild) on FFXIV has dissolved all of a sudden – it was getting quieter and quieter because various people left. But, two of our friends from the old FC had already moved to a new one, and they’ve invited us to join them there. So we had a nice place to go.
