Gratitude journaling together

  1. I have a dustpan and brush with long vertical handles so I can sweep up things without bending down.
  2. Some watermelon that I thought had gone off was still good to eat.
  3. I feel better and well rested after taking a day off from almost everything.

  1. A Welsh rugby player who was injured in a way that means his career is over has been posting about getting back to the gym and stuff. Made me smile.
  2. I’ll get Sunday afternoon off.
  3. Started reading a book I thought would maybe be dry and I’m speeding through it.
  1. A day (not today, yesterday) with all Beeminder deadlines dispatched in the afternoon; very lovely!
  2. Ate some frogs (calling Paypal support to get back into my account and calling a mechanic) and did some impromptu cleaning.
  3. “Found” some stuff that was in the wind for a while.

  2. Lisa’s manager has confirmed their role is now fully remote and we can move to Wales without them having to quit or affecting their apprenticeship. That won’t happen immediately anyway, but it’s nice to know we can go ahead.
  3. StoryGraph fixed something that was really annoying me.
  1. The Great Eared Nightjar has an adorably weird head. Google image search (We don’t have them here; I just stumbled on this.)
  2. This penguin’s moult makes it look like it’s wearing a beret.
  3. Watching Chuck with Jeremy.

  1. I saw a female scrub turkey laying eggs in the turkey mound in my garden (technically I missed the actual laying but saw her helping the male cover them with leaves).
  2. Honeydew melon for breakfast.
  3. Putting shopping away with Jeremy. He lets me command him exactly what items to put where because I have a System.

  1. Lisa bought me some more emergency chocolate.
  2. Lisa thought of a less intensive but useful thing I could do with my study time today (make Anki cards).
  3. One of the books I’m reading (Material Lives by Serena Dyer) has a lot of full-colour images of the pieces of art she’s discussing – I’m always too lazy to go look stuff up online, and also my visual intelligence is not high at all, so it’s handy to have the text and the images side by side.

  1. I love this The Nerd as the Norm article - “Picture a world where the nerdy was the normal and the direct opposite minority was considered weird.”
  2. I accidentally closed all my browser tabs this morning. I’ve realised this is good. If they were important, I would have either already dealt with them or will be reminded of them in some way later.
  3. A Christmas present from Jeremy’s sister - we now own a teapot and two mugs in the shape of Darth Vader’s head.

  1. When my cat has had enough pats, she bites me but very gently so that it doesn’t hurt.
  2. She appreciated my 15-minute mindfulness session today where I focussed solely on her (or at least appreciated it as much as a cat appreciates anything).
  3. I slept badly last night but still got up at my normal getting-out-of-bed time.

  2. The list of chores is kinda long for this evening, but they’re mostly easy.
  3. Finally managed to get an item that I’ve been owed since October sent out to me, by complaining on Twitter.

  1. Really liking Focusmate so far. The 50m sessions very effectively get rid of the countless “not so mini”-breaks I usually do throughout the day.
  2. On that note: Got to watch Biscuit Bun in action
  3. Marschl, our neighbour’s cat. He’s a solid 5.9kg of cuddly fluffiness and very affectionate. He will climb onto my shoulders and somehow get comfortable there, turning into a glorified purring neck and shoulder warmer.
