Tweeting progress

Just wondering whether it is possible to automatically tweet my progress to get friends behind me as an additional motivation.

For example tweet my weight each day with an indication of whether I am on target or not.

In an ideal world I’d like a single tweet per day with progress towards goals for Weight, Steps, Run Dist, Cycle Dist (so as to not overwhelm people with tweets).

Thanks

Dave

I didn’t see beeminder->twitter in the list, but it sounds like a thing IFTTT should be able to do.

You can definitely create a recipe with “new point added on Beeminder goal X” as trigger and “tweet” as the action.

Just noticed this part of the original post. A single “digest” tweet is probably not possible with IFTTT… Unless you have a combination of multiple recipes (e.g. one recipe to write your day’s numbers somewhere, and then this is tweeted at the end of the day(?))

So with IFTT the “new point added” would include the actual weight or steps?

Actually I think I might do better using the API myself with a little python script.

Thanks

Yes, the Beeminder trigger gives your variables to use in the action. So you if the datapoint is “80kg”, the tweet could include that in the message. Same thing for the description of the datapoint.
