Hey!
What’s the best way to create a connected goal that tracks if I wake up at 5am every day? Thanks. I’m New to this so apologies if this is not the right place to post this.
Ooh, great question!
There’s the manual answer of “wake up by 5am and log a datapoint” - you can even set the deadline to (say) 5.30am, if you want, to ensure you log before then. Strictly speaking, 5.30am would make it a “late night” deadline for the day before, but it comes to the same in the end, if you’re only logging one point a day.
But you mentioned making it a “connected” goal - by which maybe you mean using a tracking device? What sort of thing were you thinking of using to track this?
Not a Beeminder-specific solution, but maybe something like this would help?
Thanks for the write up. It seemed an easy enough (and popular) ask. Perhaps there’s an integration with Garmin that it will allow Beeminder to check if the task was completed? My goal is to wake up and train with my Garmin. If the training is not logged by 7:30am that means I didn’t wake up. Can Beeminder do that?
If you plan to always use your training as a way to force yourself to get up literally every day you could definitely do this. I’d suggest that you first set up the Garmin->Strava sync and create a Beeminder/Strava goal to track the number of a certain type of activity logged to Strava.
E.g you’d track “number of activities,” select the kinds of activities you plan to do for training, and set the rate to 1 per day.
Then, you’d go through the rest of the wizard, and on your new goal’s Settings tab, under “Deadline and Reminders,” set the deadline to 7:30.
I have used the Garmin/Strava integration for many years and it only ever lags behind by about 30 seconds once you sync to Garmin Connect.
