I can get vegan donuts any weekend I want—or during the week, if I’m willing to drive.

- Finding the Big Stretch program really helpful for reminding me to take breaks. I had a browser-based reminder set up, but somehow I often missed it. This one, so far, grabs my attention much better.

- Looks like I can finally register for this semester’s classes!
- Lisa feels none of the British urge to refuse to turn the heating on until mid-October, so the heating automatically came on this morning and my office is a comfortable temperature. It’s good that we can agree on that, ahaha.
- I’ve almost finished Heaven Official’s Blessing – so glad the full English translation was out when I started reading.

- Got down to the library yesterday to pick up a hold, and found four other fascinating books too…
- My stamps arrived just in time yesterday, so I was able to put all my World Postcard Day postcards in the post only a day late.
- I managed to get some great panniers for my bike which were much cheaper than the others I’d seen around (and cheaper than they are on that website, thank you local bike shop!). They’re not huge, but they’re big enough for my purposes, and they’re convenient to carry because when they’re off the rack and folded up, it creates a carry handle. Way more convenient than the separate clip-on ones I used to have.

- 17km ride today. I decided to take advantage of the cool but non-rainy weather while I can; the forecast for next week is rainy all the way!
- My new panniers made it very convenient to do a little shopping on the way home and get some treats too. I could have lived without trying peanut butter ice cream, but it would’ve been a sadder existence.
- New book! I preordered it a while ago, so it was not quite a surprise, but I’d forgotten when it came out. (The Bookshop, The Draper, The Candlestick Maker: A History of the High Street by Annie Gray.)

- It’s raining really hard now, a lovely sound.
- I’ve read a couple of novellas this weekend and they were all so good. (Murder by Memory by Olivia Waite, But Not Too Bold by Hache Pueyo, Haunt Sweet Home by Sarah Pinsker, and Out of the Drowning Deep by A.C. Wise.)

- Just quite how much everyday code the LLMs can write now (example: needed to rename a year’s worth of Google calendar entries, and just described the problem to it, and out came the code, which worked first time after only very minor tweaks. Turned half a day’s work into 30 minutes.)
- My lucky genes, which mean staying fit and healthy isn’t too much of a struggle
