  1. A new moisturiser is actually doing good things for my poor chapped knuckles. (Garnier hand superfood, the cocoa + ceramide version, if you were wondering.)
  2. An experiment is going very well.
  3. I’ve almost reached a total of 2000 mentor roulettes in FFXIV, almost enough to get me the final mentor achievement! It’s required a lot of hours of investment, some frustrating groups, but mostly a fun time helping newbies.

  1. Vienna Teng’s We’ve Got You single is fascinating. There are two songs in it, basically the side of activism and dealing with the world that’s full of fight, and the side that needs comfort, both based around differing interpretations of the phrase “we’ve got you”. We’ve got you on our side/we’re on your side. The final track on the single puts the two versions together. It’s musically and lyrically interesting, and Vienna Teng’s voice is always lovely.
  2. The fact that me and Lisa’s aims in a larger sense usually align. If I want to do something toward a particular cause, Lisa’s usually happy to join in or whatever it is I need.
  3. I cleaned my earplugs right after getting up this morning, so I don’t need to do it before bed tonight. I know, it’s a small thing, but thank you, past self.

  1. Finished Three Parts Dead, by Max Gladstone. Really excellent writing, with a great premise (tldr: magic works like money), well-drawn characters, and actually a great plot in there as well.
  2. Crisp cold days have arrived
  3. Started more serious coding again, working on a large established code base, which is pretty neat

  1. Took the kids to a birthday party for some friends. The hosts had hired a henna artist. After all the kids got designs, they let the adults go through next, so we all got lovely henna designs.
  2. Got my roots bleached and dyed a lovely blue that transitions nicely into the teal color I already have.
  3. Got the chimney swept and started a fire tonight. Warm and toasty.

  1. Unexpected early snow here, and so I got my FPV drone out and raced about a bit, taking photos of the snowy fields and trees.
  2. Fixed a minor plumbing crisis with a stuck pump by quite literally hitting it with a hammer[1]. Extremely satisfying that it worked, and the pump just whirred back into to life!
  3. Chess disaster, but it has caused me to refocus on calculation, which is a good thing for longer term progress I think.

  1. Full disclosure: I had a short chat with our plumber beforehand, who told me it exactly where and how to hit it. ↩︎

  1. Got some studying done today.
  2. The short books from 404ink’s Inklings series are satisfyingly random. I have a handful and they’re nice quick reads, and each topic has basically nothing to do with the rest. Exactly how my brain and interests work!
  3. No raiding this evening, as we’ve cleared the EX and the Unreal, and we’re not doing M4S until tomorrow. I understand this is gibberish to most people: point is, we’ve achieved most of our goals and more of my time is free again now.
