Gratitude journaling together

  1. A house with what looked like a net of tiny Christmas lights spread all over the house, lawn, and trees. It was magical.
  2. One of our favourite brushtail possums, Big Mama, turned up tonight after an absence of weeks.
  3. Two scrub turkey chicks at the same time in the garden, being adorably cute.
  1. Mutual support from coworkers for a day full of one thing after another going wrong.
  2. Princess, our most common female scrub turkey visitor, followed me across the park hoping for food while I was walking to the bus. I stopped to give her some of my lunch. She likes kiwi fruit!
  1. Alys has been doing extra to help me get through some difficult non-Beeminder work stuff where my admin tools aren’t working.
  2. Adam bought me the Foxes in Love collection and it arrived this week. :blue_heart:
  3. Surprise extra money.

  1. Support from some coworkers after a rough two days.
  2. Turkish delight. I found a shop that sells some they make themselves and it’s the best I’ve ever had!
  3. Waking up to a clean kitchen (especially when I’m the one who cleaned it last night!)

  1. Thanks to the combined efforts of a kind friend and the last of my December budget for frivolities, I got a bunch of non-fiction books that will allow me to go down a non-fiction rabbit-hole that has nothing to do with anything urgent. Books like How To Read A Dress and one about the history of paper patterns.
  2. Surprise gift from a friend which included a bath thing.
  3. The challenges I run every year on Habitica are always lovely, and some people have sent me some really sweet and supportive messages as a result.

  1. Lots of books for Christmas!
  2. Lemon meringue pie (made by my wife) in bed for breakfast today.
  3. The problem with the boiler/plumbing has been resolved and our flat is warm again.
  1. Bacon sandwiches.
  2. Lie-in.
  3. We got ourselves a Premier Sports subscription with our Christmas money, so we are watching the PRO14 games. We’re basically supporting all four Welsh regions, because we have favourites from the national team in all four, so the Boxing Day derbies (Scarlets v Ospreys, Dragons v Blues) were quite fun; didn’t matter who won! And we got a season pass so we can watch the games that have already been played.
  1. Jeremy made custard and we had it with a very nice Christmas pudding.
  2. The ringtail possum who visits us most often (Hera) has a baby who’s just started riding on her back and is so tiny and cute.
  3. Tethering to my phone so I can get internet access on my laptop anywhere. It’s so convenient.

  1. The weirdness of biology. We have γδ T cells, which represent 5% of the T cell population, and we don’t really know a lot about them. Wikipedia has more info than my course materials with examples of where we’ve found γδ T cells and what they did, but we don’t know for sure how they’re activated or sometimes exactly what role they play.
  2. Lisa bought me Ferrero Rochers for Christmas.
  3. Browsing through this long long Twitter thread with snippets of news about discoveries at Pompeii.

  1. There are three lizards in the garden (I thought there were but wasn’t sure and today I saw them all at the same time).
  2. One is female!
  3. Board games with friends yesterday
  1. I clearly made some good book choices for Christmas (Helen Corcoran’s Queen of Coin and Whispers for @hiddenspark; The Old Guard comics for my wife)… Best feeling.
  2. My new PJs with hedgehogs on them are adorable.
  3. It snowed overnight, unexpectedly! (To me. It was forecast, I think.) It’s not enough to be a real inconvenience, just everything coated in 2-3 inches of white. Very pretty.
  1. Nearly, nearly done with my first module of my MSc. Well, the learning part; all the assignments are yet to come.
  2. Christmas chocolate.
  3. Biscuit Bun was in a very cuddly mood and cwtched with me for around half an hour today.
  1. Aaaand I’m done with all my course material for my first module. Assignments time! (This is genuine cheerfulness; I will enjoy the challenge.)
  2. Reading the New Year in with my wife and people on Twitter/Litsy.
  3. My specialist therapy for health anxiety has been sorted out and I’ll get a call soon to schedule sessions! That was in doubt for a while, so I’m extra grateful.

  1. Standing in my garden looking up at one grouping of trees of different species. It’s very picturesque.
  2. I raked up a large pile leaves from my trees that had falled into the park behind my house and dumped them over the fence for the turkey to use. He added them to his mound straight away. I choose to believe he was grateful. XD
  3. Jeremy is making an omlette for my breakfast!
