Gratitude journaling together

  1. New trainers and hiking boots make very practical Christmas presents from my mum.
  2. Negative COVID test.
  3. The Nier Automata soundtrack is working as background music for work which I can’t sing along with, so I’m not hurting my sore throat.

  1. Reading a fascinating book about swearing (Holy Shit by Melissa Mohr).
  2. A friend I’m worried about does seem to be doing okay.
  3. I’ve kept the books I got for Christmas in my office within sight, so I keep getting excited about how fun they all look. I’m starting to think a lot of my urges to always get new books is because somehow I have no object permanence about them!
  1. Swimming at night with the stars bright overhead.

  1. This time travel episode in Hilda. That’s some adorable science fiction.
  2. Email filtering software. My favourite is procmail but Gmail’s filters aren’t too bad either. Life is so much calmer with them.
  3. Fabrics that block UV sunlight.
  1. Using our sports channel subscription to watch some old Ospreys games! Many more opinions about rugby are being formed, and this game back in August had much less kicking, which I appreciate.
  2. Made time for a bath today since I worked more than I intended over the weekend.
  3. I understood something in my biostatistics class on the first pass, yay!
  1. The Intention browser extension and especially its new cooldown feature that stops me spending too long on bad websites.
  2. The Truth Seekers TV series. It has Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, always a great combination (also Malcolm McDowell!).
  3. Mashed potatoes.
  1. Somebody has made pencils with K.J. Charles quotes on them, and I had a good giggle. (@alys! Look!)
  2. I got a bit extra done on biostats today so I won’t need to do as much tomorrow.
  3. My Beeminder goal for ‘justonestitch’ got me to finish tucking in the ends on a blanket so I can join more motifs. One day I’ll finish it!
  1. Discovered BioRender, which will save my butt for doing diagrams for this assignment.
  2. People on Postcrossing kept recommending me Griffin & Sabine, so I got it. It was lovely!
  3. Wife brought me home some Diet Coke after going shopping, just when I was craving it (I’ve mostly cut it out). Aahhh.

Those are fantastic! What a good idea.

  1. A long sleep-in that let me catch up on days of broken sleep.
  2. Jeremy is making breakfast for me.
  3. A cooling breeze this morning.
  1. A friend I was worried about (I’ve been worried about her and relieved here before… I fuss over her like a bird with one chick) has actually seen a doctor about her awful cough.
  2. Aside from one stupid mistake (couldn’t read my own handwriting, forgot to square something) all my statistics coursework made sense today!
  3. I’m feeling optimistic about getting caught up with stuff. It may be unfounded optimism, but let me have it.

  2. Reading the illustrated version of The Books of Earthsea (illustrations by Charles Vess). Gaaah, it’s beautiful.
  3. Tomorrow and Sunday are my shorter workdays (I currently work 7 days a week, 6-6.5 hours on weekdays, 3-4 hours on weekends…) and I plan to get work out of the way early and then vegetate in front of the rugby.

Oh wow, that does sound gorgeous!

  1. Hot Cross Buns are in the shops (stupidly early of course but I love them so this I do not mind).

  2. Tab zero!
  3. I’m grateful for being done with a 40-hour week of work. That’s about all I can say about that!
  1. Jeremy loved Catweazel when he was a child but was never aware there was a second season so I got to watch him seeing it for the first time (and also watched it again myself which was lovely).
  2. Three butcherbirds bathing in the bird bath I fill each day. I don’t often see birds in it so this was nice.
