I’m using my breaks to do my workouts. And I read on the treadmill, so it’s a break for my brain and it gets me moving.
Lisa fixed an email problem with my site that had me baffled.
I got a whole bundle of Postcrossing cards today! Including my first duplicate card, a Leipzig Zoo card with a hippo on it. No complaints, I love hippos.
Nearly three hours of reading so far today, and it’s not even 10pm? Yay!
Sending silly snow pictures back and forth with @hiddenspark makes me feel a little less grumpy about missing a chance for our usual playing walks in the snow.
Being back at inbox/tab zero is more restful than the backlog I had. At least then you’re not wondering what still needs handling before x or y date – you’ve done it.
Worked through a thing in statistics I wasn’t getting and it looks like I do understand it. Just gotta go slow.
Reading an author I meant to try for quite a while and I’m having fun (Dorothy Gilman’s the author; I’m reading The Tightrope Walker).
The snow’s mostly melted so with a day or two more of this temperature, it should be pretty safe for Lisa to drive. I liked the look of the snow, but not having the road blocked with it!
Lisa made us American-style pancakes for breakfast.
Listening to new songs by Thea Gilmore (from the Blithe Spirits soundtrack – “Heaven’s Cadillacs” and “Where You Are Is Where I Am”; from the sound of it they might be the best thing about the film).
Lisa used her hair clippers to roughly restore my undercut. It’s not perfect but it feels a lot better.
Greta Thunberg burns a fossil (joke stolen from Twitter replies). ref1ref2
“US President Joe Biden has signed 17 executive actions, 15 of which are executive orders directly undoing some of the previous administration’s non-science-based actions… including the US response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the withdrawals from both the Paris Climate Agreement and the World Health Organization (WHO).” ref
And from the past few days:
A holiday away from all my usual responsibilities.
In Queensland, we are fortunate enough that travel intra-state is safe.
That moment when a plane takes off and you feel the ground releasing you and physics catching you and keeping you aloft.
Home-made pho soup.
Cherry liquer chocolates.
Marzipan.
Pea and ham soup.
Finches, tiny and pretty.
The sound of a river.
Rainforests.
The call of catbirds. It reminds me of the forest I used to hike in when I was a child.
My dad bought Hulk two more teddies since she loves the first so much, to be swapped in and out as needed during repairs/cleaning. He sent me a very funny text about it.
Tomorrow is my day off.
Ken Owens is back and playing for the Scarlets again! Best thing about that game, honestly.
I got some of the new stickers in Kind Words today!
The weird sticky key on my keyboard was fixed by unplugging my keyboard and plugging it back in again!
The Ospreys had a fun game against Connacht today. I’m really glad we got the sports channel subscription, weird as it is to think of myself as a sports-watching person.
