Gratitude journaling together

Yep! I’m trying to persuade Lisa to make them, but she’s not in the mood right now. So she’s just getting a whole bunch whenever she goes shopping!

Oop, I’m late late late. But not too late!

  1. Artwork of my bunnies arrived from my childhood bestie! She did one of Breakfast and Hulk once, so this is the matching one of Eclair and Biscuit.
  2. Nostalgia reading is very soothing.
  3. Grandma’s doing better again.

  1. Texting with my aunt.
  2. Our new printer worked fairly painlessly!
  3. Great British Sewing Bee is back and we watched it right away last night!

  1. My garden. Many trees. Parts of it are like a tiny jungle!
  2. My cat loves sleeping on top of an old mattress that we have’t got rid of yet. It’s on its side against a wall behind a cupboard and she perches on the top like the queen of the house.
  3. Caramello chocolate.

  1. James May’s Toy Stories: a group of engineers do amazing things with toys, such as building a full-sized bridge with Meccano.
  2. Bananas. So tasty!
  3. The nvi editor (one of the vi implementations). I love the two-mode keyboard controls.

  1. Having a printer makes things way easier and means I sent a goofy pic of Hulk (one of our rabbits) to my mum in the mail, ha.
  2. People being super-nice and helpful on Habitica.
  3. There is a cold can of Pepsi awaiting me in the fridge and I am looking forward to it very much.

Hulk agrees and would like to request that someone provide her with one (at least, I assume that’s what km orpfdlccccccccccccccccciaszjkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkki9ox means).

  1. I’m going to do the 24 Hour Readathon today!
  2. Grandma actually went home from the hospital as of yesterday! Only a few days ago they were telling us she would never go home.
  3. Grandma will have carers in (every day?) to help her and that is something I’ve wanted for her for years. I think she will be happier at home and enough safety is provided by the carers that I’m not too worried.

  1. Random task selection! I have a huge bunch of backlogged tasks and I spent several hours today working through them by picking one at random and working for 15 minutes or until it was finished (with the option to delete ones that were no longer relevant). I feel productive.
  2. The Community TV show. I love it so much. The paintball episodes are especially fun.
  3. My noise-cancelling headphones. So useful when the neighbours play dreadful music.

Oh wow! I really like this idea! Gonna give it a try! I’m grateful for your suggestion!

  1. Toasted hot cross buns for breakfast.
  2. I’m about to start reading Martha Wells’ Network Effect, some days before the release date!
  3. I finished four books yesterday.

  1. I can do hanging leg raises! Not for long yet and it’s much more an arm exercise for me than leg or core training but I can do them! When I last tried them months ago I could barely lift my feet off the ground.
  2. The new moon in the sky tonight.
  3. My gym shoes. They’re comfortable and pure black so they can masquerade as normal shoes and I wear them everywhere (these days that means just for short walks late at night but anyway).

Oops, I missed a day and I’m pretty late today.

  1. I’m related (semi-distantly) to a hairdresser who has given me tips on (sob) dyeing over my blue hair.
  2. I swear the above is a gratitude thing, despite being sad to lose my blue hair – I have found a hairstyle I really want, post-lockdown, which will involve my hair being non-bleached (to allow it to curl more). So I am abandoning the blue, for a while.
  3. Ibuprofen is holding the pain/swelling from a wisdom tooth at bay, and I think maybe the darn thing is going to erupt properly this time? Maybe? I hope this every time.

Ah yes, I had all four of mine removed one or two years ago on the same day. Good times! In my case the doctor didn’t wait for them to cause big problems – he saw on the x ray that they were gonna be trouble eventually so he made short work of them. Can recommend! (Seriously, 0 problems ever since, I’m actually glad they were removed)

I’m also glad that we got this crazy thing called universal healthcare in Europe.

I react super badly to general anaesthetic (and it would need to be general anaesthetic for mine) and I have dental phobia (not irrationally so, let’s not get into my traumatic past experiences with dentists though), so my (nice, sensible, actually quite wonderful) dentist has been avoiding it for as long as he possibly can, hoping that they’ll just… stop. I periodically have one or two weeks of trouble, and then they stop again for a while. It would be right now, of course.

(Also given that I need a specialist because of my phobia, my dental care isn’t actually free, so there’s that problem too. Not sure how much of it my insurance will cover, but maybe it’s wise to find out, or see if the private insurance through my wife’s job has me covered… sigh.)

  1. I can see a next stock date on the ereader I want. :eyes: I am preparing to pounce.
  2. A friend was adorably excited by my plan to cut my hair short and let it go curly, post-lockdown.
  3. Wife bought me the next two books in a series I am enjoying. (Deanna Raybourn’s Veronica Speedwell books!)
  1. I think today might genuinely be a lighter work day, as opposed to me planning a lighter work day and ending up at least as busy as usual, which is what has been happening all this week.
  2. Vivian Shaw’s Grave Importance is so good and I don’t really want to put it down and whyyyy was this series only a trilogy?
  3. I got something with lidocaine in it to paint my gums with. Sweet relief!
  1. My real-life (non-Habitica) job had some interesting tasks today.
  2. Magic: The Gathering. I haven’t played it for years, and never played it a lot, but I have fond memories of it. Today I discovered that, if the internet can be believed :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:, a carefully-crafted deck can be used to trap your opponents into playing Uno (see also Magic Uno). And in fact MTG is Turing Complete!
  3. Shaun Micallef’s Mad as Hell, an Australian satire news show. It’s cutting and hilarious. It’s not on the air at the moment so I’m bingeing old episodes from the Before Times.
