Gratitude journaling together

  1. Lovely third-party tools people make and share for games and apps.
  2. A friend’s recommendation seems to have worked out and my hair is curling more than it did before.
  3. A friend who hasn’t been in touch lately sent me a message today.
  1. The Mitchells vs. The Machines movie. It’s fun and heartwarming.
  2. Jeremy has made himself a new lightsabre. This one lights up orange when you turn on a switch in the handle, and that’s its only feature but it’s pretty cool. short video
  3. Jeremy’s previous lightsabres - OMG! They turned on automatically when you started swishing them, AND the LEDs came on progressively so it looked like the blade was coming out of the handle just like a real one, AND they made the lightsabre-turning-on noise as they turned on, AND they made the swooshing noise as you swooshed them through the air, AND there was a control in the handle for choosing the colour. They’ve all been given as gifts to people, which I suppose is a good thing too.

  1. I am definitely grateful for @mary, for many reasons, not least the fact that we are constitutionally incapable of having a quick chat, and always end up roaming around a bit. :blue_heart: Those kinds of conversations are always the best.
  2. Friends who put up with my babbling about whatever the interest of the moment is.
  3. The fact that I rarely get round to recycling my electronic items came in handy today, as we still had my old phone as a backup when Lisa’s went kerblooey.

  1. Lots of postcards today!
  2. This week I don’t have any intrusive memories to take into my EMDR session. The worst I’ve got it is a recurring worry that’s rooted in some of those themes. I feel… better?
  3. I was worried about something and it turned out to be catastrophising and it was fine.

  1. Therapy was pretty low-key yesterday, actually some good memories.
  2. I have the right to vote and I’m going to exercise it. This is a good thing to remember to be grateful for.
  3. The Lions team will finally be announced today, and I’m looking forward to seeing if my predictions are borne out.
  1. Alun Wyn Jones will be the captain of the British & Irish Lions squad! I had doubts, but this is awesome, and some of our favourite players were selected, so yaaaay.
  2. Peas with onion mixed in. I don’t know how that improves the humble garden pea so much but it does. Om nom nom.
  3. 'tis the season for lots of dandelions again, meaning lots of extra snacks to feed Hulk. It’s hilarious to watch her eat them whole.
  1. White chocolate and coconut ice cream from Ruby Violet. Om, nom, nom.
  2. Lisa and I made some guesses about how to improve a dish and it worked out. (It was rice with cheese, chorizo and courgette. We switched in peppers instead of courgette and added more chorizo, and it was perfect.)
  3. Slept in and it was nice.
  1. Full draft of my assignment done!
  2. There is sticky chocolate orange cake in my future.
  3. My sister took my afternoon shift again today to give me more time for working on my essay.
  1. I’m grateful that both mine and Jon’s parents and siblings have received their first immunization shot
  2. I’m grateful for the relaxing weekend I just spent that felt completely recharging
  3. I’m grateful that a logistical situation I was worried about has been looking like it might be going much better than expected
  1. I have an appointment for my first COVID vaccination! So does my wife.
  2. I made a tiny tweak to my morning routine where I read for a bit before even looking at my email, and it is a big improvement.
  3. My mum proofread my assignment for me (as usual; she has faithfully read all my assignments through all four of my degrees, apart from one on statistics which my dad checked instead). I am ridiculously blessed that I’ve always had my parents to turn to for this kind of help with my assignments; it’s such an integral part of my workflow yet it depends on them being willing and able to do it and have substantive, useful comments to make through the very different subjects I’ve studied.

  2. Levelling up my crafting on FFXIV with Lisa’s help.
  3. We realised we could order shopping delivery and that means we get more time to play this evening. :joy:
  1. Sewing Bee tonight!
  2. Silly childhood meal for dinner.
  3. Chatting with my dad.
  1. Some interesting insights in therapy today.
  2. Mass Effect Legendary Edition is out tomorrow! And I have the game pre-loaded! …I mean, I’ll have to work first, don’t think I can call in “Mass Effect’ed”, but still…
  3. Enjoying my little break before I start studying for my exam in earnest.
  1. Playing Mass Effect again. I’ve been wanting to since forever, but holding out in hopes of a remaster.
  2. Quesadillas for dinner.
  3. Tomorrow is my day off.
  1. Lisa did laundry so my comfiest pair of jammies are clean again.
  2. Blood orange sorbet.
  3. We had some leftover acid reflux medication so I could quickly feel better today.
  1. The acid reflux medication reaaaaally helped.
  2. Using chocolate to motivate oneself through the morning. Especially chocolate with nuts in.
  3. Lisa’s morning meetings somehow always seem to involve a lot of science, and Lisa will explain things to their colleagues (sometimes with help from me in the background). Their job has nothing to do with biology (software support), it’s just morning socialising.
  1. Red wine and the pleasant buzz from it. I feel fondly towards many people right now.
  2. A while back, over in Habitica-land, shanaqui and I changed our Display Names to add our pronouns. More and more Habiticans are doing that now, which pleases me.
  3. On the weekend at work, my team did some extended overtime to replace an old firewall, and it’s gone very smoothly.

I’ve noticed that too! I’m sure a lot of them pick it up from us or from people influenced by us, since they style it the same way we do, and it makes me smile.
