- Biscuit took a bad fall while being a silly bunny but doesn’t seem to be hurt.
- Sam Costelow has been picked for the national rugby squad for the Autumn Internationals. I’ve been keen to see this for a while, based on his performance for the Scarlets. It’s going to be interesting to watch!
- The random option on playlists. Indecisive? That’s fine! Just stick the biggest most varied playlist on random, and it’ll be fine.

Proceeds to play 20 rounds

It’s actually still working for me as a motivator and I haven’t been tempted to play more than one at a time, which frankly I’m surprised about. ![]()
- Jeremy bought me two small dragon statues from the same collection as the previous two. They are so pretty! All shiny colours and each in a different pose.
- They’re cheap, so I don’t need to feel bad about a lot of money being spent on me. (I like cheap presents!)
- A client made a request that could have been interpretted as being simple or difficult, and it turns out the simple version was the one they wanted.

- New wireless earbuds. They work separately as well as together, so I have one in and one ear for situational awareness and it’s lovely. Wireless is great too because I don’t have to pause my music/disengage myself to be able to just go grab a drink or whatever – and the bunnies can’t nibble the cable. I ended up getting two pairs to be sure that I can get a full day with them, but so far they last pretty well.
- This year’s Beeminder goals for my class stuff are working very well so far. It means that I know whether I’m on track against the final goal, instead of ending up bogged down just filling time. (Though I do have a time-based goal as well, to make sure I put in the time.) Also, kinda nice to just look at them: shanaqui/lshtm_mrsa
- I’ll see my sister @hiddenspark tonight. And ice cream will be involved.

- My final textbook is here! Grateful once more to Mum buying those for me, as she did last year.
- Listening to music does really help with my misophonia.
- I read a book about earthworms yesterday and a book about barn owls today, and it is really nice, always, to just read something inconsequential and full of random facts.
- I should be finished with doing Beeminder goals and such pretty quickly after work for once.
- Plans for the weekend with my parents/sister, and plans with friends.
- Work has commenced on the new curtains for my office.
- We’ll be making dinner for my parents today.
- Text from my aunt to chat a bit.
- Got myself a copy of The Spare Man (Mary Robinette Kowal).

- I saw Professor Brian Cox’s “Horizons” show.
- When I had a 10 minute wait for a train, Beeminder made me spend the time walking up and down the platform to get some extra minutes on my aerobic goal.
- Red wine.

- I had a nice refreshing weekend with lots of reading.
- There will be a new adaptation of The Dark is Rising for audio, by the BBC. I loved the version they did when I was a child, and I’m not sure they can ever beat the casting for Merriman Lyon (Ronald Pickup’s voice was perfect) or the Rider (Struan Rodger, though Luke Allen-Gale’s performance for Zenos yae Galvus in FFXIV is a dead-ringer for Rodger’s delivery). This looks to be much less abridged and will hopefully lead to adaptations of more of the sequence – when I was kid they only did Over Sea, Under Stone and The Dark is Rising, rather than the whole sequence.
- It’s time for my regular weekday morning hangout with the bunnies, where I let them climb all over me, without moving to pet or restrain them in any way, while I read. (This is aimed at stopping them immediately assuming I want to pick them up whenever I go over to them. They have a well-established method of letting me know they don’t want to be picked up, and they trust that I won’t pick them up if they don’t want me to, but lately they’ve always been signalling they don’t want to be picked up… which means I don’t get to just hang out with them much, even if I have no intention of picking them up.)

- Jeremy went to a rave and met his favourite DJ in person, quite by accident. He was glowing with happiness all the next day.
- The game that I’ve been playing as a motivator has introduced an ad after each round, so it’s even easier to resist playing it more than once at a time.
- A sunny day after a few days of rain.

- Started sorting out Lisa’s advent calendar. Doing a custom one again!
- I climbed up onto the roof to clear a vine that’s growing too far over it and while there’s a lot more to be done, it was easier and safer than I had feared.
- Jeremy held the ladder for me and helped with pulling down vine that I had cut.
- Tinned food when we’re tired.
- It’s Eclair and Biscuit’s Gotcha Day! They’ve been with us four years now.
- It’s Friday!
- Managed to make time for something I’ve been wanting to do for a while.
- Hippos crunching whole pumkins
- Watching one scrub turkey chase another through the branches of a tall tree. They’re so ungainly it’s always startling to see them far off the ground.
- A neighbour I hadn’t met before offered to lend me his lawn mower when he saw me cutting grass with clippers. I said no because it was a small amount of grass and good exercise, but it was lovely of him.
