Milestones/Sub goals in Beeminder?

Most often, my goals in Beeminder are continuous improvement kind of goals.
Usually Do more goals. Where I track the time spent doing something and not
the output achieved. Because outputs are not under our control and one can
easily get disheartened and derailed.

For example I have set up "play guitar (and become a better guitar player)"
as a goal.

For which I have set up a road dial of 15 min of guitar practice / day
And I am practicing scales and chords and stuff every day and picking up
the occasional song on the way.

Now this has gone on for a few months, and I find that I have become
better, but my graph just tells me how much time I have spent, and doesn’t
tell me anything about what I have achieved in terms of how many new songs
I can play and which songs etc. I can of course track them somewhere else,
but being able to see them as some milestones on the graph would be neat.

What I would like to have is the ability to set up milestones every week or
2 weeks of some specific sub goal to achieve.
Like pick up the lead for “song X” by the next 30 days or bass line for
"song Y" in the next 2 weeks etc.
In between these milestones I would set up the road dial in hrs and track
time spent, but the short term milestone would be there to motivate me as a
reward to aim for in the next 2 weeks as would the ability to look back on
on my achievements on the graph.

I could of course set these sub goals as individual goals in Beeminder, but
that would mean too many goals.

Any thoughts / suggestions?

Similar use cases would be spending time reading and tracking books read,
spend time learning & track subjects learnt, running and tracking the 1st 4
min mile, marathon etc.

I think you could do this using extra goals that get automatically updated
via a script that uses the beeminder API. Updating via a script
automatically would take care of the problem of having too many goals. I
started to do something like this but got stuck because the timestamps that
the API reports are buggy and inaccurate. I updated the goal manually for
a while but then archived it when I decided that I didn’t really need it.
