Auto-refresh the dashboard?

Hi everyone,

I love beeminder.

I have a screen dedicated to display the beeminder dashboard. But I have to manually refresh it.

Is there a way that it could refresh itself, or like every 10 minutes?

Looking forward to your ideas for that.

You might be able to find a browser extension to do that. Or you could try some of the unofficial dashboards. The one I built, bm.taskratchet.com, auto-refreshes the data when you refocus the dashboard.

I missed this post at first, but in counterpoint, I really don’t want it to refresh! I’m often a little behind on adding my data, so it’s helpful that it stays put and I can add my data the next day and then refresh when I’m ready.

I agree with everyone. It ought to stay automatically fresh, but not just by forcing a whole page reload every so often. So we have to think carefully about how to do this. Maybe ideally the graphs should auto-refresh but it doesn’t change the dates out from under you?

On a Mac, I use the excellent Keyboard Maestro utility to refresh the dashboard if it’s the frontmost tab in my browser when I switch to it.

But I’m with Nicky on this; if I used the dashboard to enter data then the refresh could become annoying. Because most of my datapoints come from either autodata or my command line scripts, the stale dashboard view can become misleading.
