In a similar vein, I have a Beeminder goal for doing the cat box three
times per week. That works decently, but I can build up enough margin by
doing it every other day that I can go four or even five if I’m feeling
lazy, which is all the time. It’s not healthy for my cat or nose.
I wouldn’t mind a different sort of goal that’s deliberately inflexible,
having Beeminder’s teeth behind a “cat box every other day without fail”
sort of goal.

I have “Plan Bee” and, although you can specify the buffer left when
retroratcheting, if you enter less than 2, it still won’t actually do less
than 2. Same for safe days. (This is true on ‘Do More’ goals only; the ‘Do
Less’ goals can be retroratcheted down to 0. I think they plan to fix that,
but I definitely don’t want to be speaking for them!) Upgrading the account
will not, in fact, change that.
(Though, I think upgrading the account is still worth it for the custom
goals.)On 26 June 2014 06:44, Brent Yorgey byorgey@gmail.com wrote:
One more thought: the Bee Lite plan also gives you the ability to specify
how much buffer you are left with after retroratcheting. The default is 2
but you can enter other values. If you’re willing to get the Bee Lite plan
this sounds perfect for your use case.On Thu, Jun 26, 2014 at 6:39 AM, Brent Yorgey byorgey@gmail.com wrote:
Yes, I have the Bee Lite plan, but I’ve never adjusted the width of my
roads. I think in order to do that you can convert your goal to a Custom
goal type. However, I don’t think adjusting the width would help you in
any case. Retroratcheting would still leave you with 2 days of buffer. (I
think — I’m actually not really sure how the road width adjustment works.)On Wed, Jun 25, 2014 at 8:56 PM, Kenny Yang yangkennyk@gmail.com

It’s a little hackish, but you can enter a negative datapoint to cut
down your safety buffer to whatever you want, and then go from there. I’ve
used that trick a few times in the past, especially for these sorts of “do
something once a day” goals. On Wed, Jun 25, 2014 at 8:08 PM, Kenny Yang yangk...@gmail.com

daily rate to be 750.When I entered my writing for today (800), it gives me 3 days until
derailment. Even with retroratchet, it cuts it down to 2 days until
derailment. Is it possible to make it so that there’s only 1 day until derailment
so that I’m required to enter 750 everyday?thanks!
