Treadmill Tracking

Hi,

I checked the integrations listed on the BeeMinder website, but there weren’t any specifically for what I’m trying to do.

Are there any Beeminder integrations whereby I can track my speed on a treadmill and the duration of that speed? I specifically want to aim for 4 - 5 days per week of walking 80 minutes at a time at 3 mph.

I’m especially interested in what other people have already tried. I’m guessing some combination of IFTTT and/or Zapier will be needed.

Thank you very for any help.

Aiming for 4-5 days/week is going to be hard - you would likely need to set your goal firm at one of those options. If you want to give yourself a bit of leeway I will often set at task at a rate of 0.8 / day which mean that i’m doing a task roughly 5.5 times per week. You might try to lower that 0.8 to something that fits between your two goals.

For tracking time and distance, I wonder if tracking the distance might be the best way to go about this? @3mph for 80 minutes that means your walking 4 miles right? So, if you track 4 miles you should reach what you are aiming for, though if you walked faster than 3mph then it would negate that result.

I use Apple Health to track my steps and there is a lot of options, I think you can track miles walked as well. I know there are integrations for Strava and other solutions too.

If you have a fitbit you could also track zone minutes.

I used to have a treadmill desk and found that I wouldn’t reliably earn steps since I was using my computer, meaning my hands were relatively stationary. Though for that kind of usage you might not be getting a lot of zone minutes either.

So all to say I guess it depends on how you use the treadmill as to how straightforward or not it’ll be to track with Beeminder.

Hi Kyle,

Thank you for the info. Tracking distance could work as long as it’s on the treadmill. Would you happen to know of a device that’s android compatible for tracking distance?

Hi Narthur,

Thank you for your help. Does Fitbit work well for tracking distance on a treadmill? My phone’s android.
